McMenamins Tavern & Pool — Restaurant in Portland

I'm typically a big mcmenamins fan, but this location has consistently been a miss. I've been there half a dozen times for dine-in, and every time my food has been missing ingredients. Tonight I ordered pickup for dinner, and for the third time at this location that I've ordered the Aztec salad, and they didn't include avocado, which is a listed ingredient - tbh, I wouldn't pay $15+ for a salad otherwise. The extra shitty part tonight was they didn't include any dressing, which is half of the flavor of the salad; Unfortunately, by the time we got home and noticed, it was 5 minutes before closing and we couldn't get it corrected. We essentially paid $35 (before tip) for a mediocre pizza and a salad with beans and tomato. I'm honestly surprised this location has such high ratings between that and the consistently terrible service. Every time I've gone in, the bartenders look like they're annoyed you're there and don't acknowledge you, the servers are hard to find, and everyone working seems like they're in a terrible mood. So, they miss ingredients on your food and then god forbid you try to get someone's attention for a fix or for the rest of your order, let alone another round of drinks. I'll be skipping this location...

No matter where you're from, or where you live now, you wont find anywhere in Portland that feels more like home. McMenamins Tavern is the most warm and welcoming bar in town. From the moment you walk through the doors, greeted by a huge smile and a "Welcome In!", you'll feel like you're part of the family. The staff are all so down to earth and treat you like one of the gang. The food selection is fantastic, paired with an overflowing beer list, or a perfectly crafted cocktail of your choosing... you really can't go wrong. And if that's not enough, the ambiance in this place is unmatched. Skip the shoulder to shoulder crowds and come hang out at McMenamins where you'll find room to relax. Set with cozy lighting, numerous seating options, and music loud enough to hear but quiet enough to enjoy a real conversation with a friend, you won't find a better atmosphere for a great evening. Add to that several pool tables for those competitive spirits, and you've got a lethal combination of great vibes & friendly faces to keep you coming back time after...

The food is bomb. Atmosphere is good. The service however is lacking. Took 10 minutes to get the drink we ordered. After the food was dropped off, you're on your own. After 20 minutes of waiting, we dropped the idea of ordering another drink (that we really wanted as their selection is good) we had already finished eating, plates were bare for 10 of those 20 minutes, the server then comes back asking how things are tasting which was awkward. We just responded to please give us the check. Paid cash so we didn't have to wait longer. I know some place are short staffed, and we were patient but 20 minutes and no check-in for additional drinks is a bit ridiculous considering the place wasn't busy. Literally everyone had to come in from outside or shout to get anything...
