I've been coming to Michoacan for probably 13 years. It's the closest thing to an authentic Mexican restaurant I've found in Portland. I'm the only white guy I've ever seen here. Yes, there's a TV with soccer or telenovelas playing all the time. Yes, there's a fat little chihuahua that doesn't like strangers. That's just like Mexico, so get over it. The food is out of this world. Try the Birria de Chivo, it will blow you away. Everything I've tried is excellent. Handmade tortillas. Everything from scratch. As near as I can tell, everything is done by one woman. Sometimes one of her children is there helping out, but they're all pretty much grown now so you rarely see them. I'm just in awe that one person could keep a whole restaurant going and consistently serve such good food....

Read moreI can’t express how much I love this place. This is my #1 favorite restaurant now. My husband picked up Menudo, chavindeca, and flan here because I thought it looked authentic. As soon as I tasted it I felt like I was transported back home for a minute. I’ve eaten here 4 days in a row now!!! Its delicious, homemade, and overall a necessity now that I’ve tried it.
