Update: Management got back to my friend who emailed them and said that they would have a talk with this employee and his behavior would not be tolerated. Thank you for your quick response!

My rating today has nothing to do with my meal or the locale (both great) and everything to do with the inappropriate behavior exhibited by the man in the green snapback hat working the counter today on my lunch break, around 1:15pm today. After being followed and harassed after I said no to a man asking for money outside, I ducked into Pho Van Fresh for what I hoped would be a safe spot to get away from the person who was following me. I was a bit shaken, so I explained to the man working the counter what had happened when he asked me how I was doing. Instead of saying "I'm sorry" or "that sucks" or anything a reasonable person would say, he leered at me and said "Maybe that's why you shouldn't go around looking so cute." Absolutely disgusted by this inappropriate behavior and I hope the management will take steps to find out who was working this day and have a...

Me and my family were driving back home to Washington and decide to stop by Portland to grab some pho.. When we order the guy was really nice and helpful. We order two chicken pho and two steak pho.. The steak pho was good and one of the chicken pho.. The other chicken pho had lots of pieces of fat mixed with the meet. When we asked the server to go back and ask the chef what part of the chicken was this it was not chicken breast it was chicken fat. We asked her if we can get a reimbursement for that fat and our pho but she told us that all she could do was give us another chicken and we told her that she was disgusted and didn't want to eat anymore. She wouldn't reimburse us for the fat and was rude about it. I would not recommend this place their water is laid out on the tables before someone is placed there. My concern would be how long have they been sitting there? Just trying to share my experience with this place, up to you if...

Sadly, quality and quantity have both apparently nosedived. We’ve been ordering from Pho Van for two years and it was my favorite for delivery. The packaging has changed and provides a convenient opportunity to cut corners with portions. Tonight we received a bun bowl with pork and eggrolls that contained about 25% of the vermicelli and about 25% of the pork we regularly received when we started ordering (five razor thin pieces of pork for a dinner? Really y’all?) but it contained MUCH more plain lettuce than we have ever received. The new takeaway bowls also contain ABSOLUTELY NO cucumber/carrot/radish, and also assume the customer wants a massive forkful of undressed, wet lettuce with each and every bite. I’ve never seen such a jarring and sudden example of shrinkflation, and I’m so sad to see it coming from one of my favorite food spots. Customers shouldn’t pay more money for half of the food...

A good pho is a dish that combines beef, spices, noodles, herbs together for a warm and comforting meal. A great pho is one that creates harmony in a bowl. Its a delicate balance that when struck gives you a Ah-ha! moment because it just works. Its like a balanced chef knife. What I am trying to say is that this Pho is a full, well balanced expression of what pho should be. Its presented unassumingly but hits all the right notes from soup clarity, flavor, fat and spice, to the just right chewy rice noodles, to the toppings and in this case the oxtail was tender bite off the none good. The only thing I'd want is a side of fried garlic and shallots but, thats just my own preference for pho. Thank you chef, hope to eat here again soon.

I want to believe that once, maybe before it became "fresh," that the pho from Pho Van was authentic; that the broth had been simmering for hours to get that rich, savory taste. I don't think that's the case, if it ever was. The pho is okay, just okay. Although I didn't thoroughly enjoy my bowl, I finished it anyway. The vermicelli bowl is a better choice. I don't know what the ramen tastes like because I would never, intentionally, order ramen from a Vietnamese restaurant. But hey, they threw on the "Fresh" for a reason. If you want to grab a vermicelli bowl togo, this is the place to go. But if you crave a warm bowl of pho on a rainy day in downtown Portland...there are other places.
