This is a classic love story of boy finds yummy Thai cart, boy loses yummy Thai cart, boy finds yummy Thai cart again.
I was gifted a Grubhub gift card and didn't really know where to use it. Thai sounded good and Pinto Thai came up as one of the closer places that worked with Grubhub.
Now, I'm reluctant to try a new Thai restaurant. I know what I like and I will typically go back to the same restaurant forever. But my usual "around the corner" Thai cart recently relocated and the reviews for PTK seemed reasonable, so I decided to give it a shot. Not like I had much to lose, it was free money.
I was not disappointed! I ordered pad see ew and yellow curry, both with tofu as well as garden rolls and deep fried spring rolls. These dishes were all great and I would definitely order them both again.
Now comes the sad part of the story. A couple weeks later, I wanted to order Thai food again but I could...not...remember...the...name of the cart. I knew it was around Hawthorne and 33rd, but there are a ton of Thai restaurants in the area. None of the websites looked right and so I just gave up. I actually haven't had Thai since that Grubhub order.
Today, as I was reviewing my credit card statement, I saw an entry for 'Grubhubpintothaikitch' (because my order went over the amount of the Grubhub gift card). Aha! Googling 'pintothaikitch' turns up a few a few places called 'Pinto Thai' around the U.S. but only one in Portland on SE Hawthorne. So, now I know where to find them and will be...
Read moreFirst time here ordered take away. Ordered the staple Chicken Pad Thai as a benchmark and a Veggie lovers with chicken (comes with rice)
Service was very fast, but wait read on… All the components were there and the presentation and quantity was excellent. but the flavors were missing and the overall experience was pretty bland.
That delicious salty peanut mix with a kick of chilli pepper that you get from a good pad Thai sauce. MISSING. like they forgot the fish sauce or the tamarind seasoning that gives that glazed salt yum.
Similar experience with the stir fry veggie lovers. no wok hay taste. did it even hit the wok?
If your hungry after the gym and it needs to functionally fill a hole, this works, but so does a lot of stuff if that’s your bar. But given the prices are a few dollars higher than other Thai places and the flavors being lower leads me to a 3 star rating. It’s medium. Having said that , maybe I missed their premium dishes , so I will try again but right now there’s a couple of other places very close that do a lot better in the flavors and authenticity of the dishes I ordered (which is what you want right?) otherwise you would just boil your...
Read moreAttended the Meet & Eat, in partnership with Pop Fever, in celebration of the upcoming opening in the Ritz Carlton. Just WOW!!! As a self-proclaimed foodie, it is truly a rarity that everything single bite of every dish boasts delight and intrigue, but, that was the experience. There were 16 dishes presented, and I tried them all. I truly thought I had experienced authentic Thai Food before yesterday, but, I've now been set sttaight. From what I can pick out on the menu, I had salad rolls, golden tofu, tom kha, papaya salad, shrimp salad, pad kra prow, and zab wings. There were several other dishes which included a curry, two veggie & meat stirfrys, a shrimp noodle, ground chicken and ground tofu, steamed bamboo wrapped lemon fish, hot boba and coconut cream dessert soup, mango & sticky rice, and even the fresh fruit was perfectly ripe, firm and sweet. Paired with a pattaya a go go cocktail (vodka and fresh fruit juices) the experience was truly incredible. I can't wait to re-visit, and bring all my friends. 10/10, do...
