I’ve been coming to this spot for a while now, and I have to admit — it’s almost unnerving how consistently warm, authentic, and professional the staff are.
The baristas have this charming habit of noticing me immediately when I walk in, even mid-conversation, and still somehow managing to finish their sentence and greet me in one graceful motion. If there’s an Olympic sport for multitasking and good manners, they’re training for it.
As far as the service goes, from what I can tell they manage to treat every single customer with the same respect, whether you’re a regular or a first-timer, and regardless of apparent background. (I can only speak from my experiences but as a brown skinned Mexican, I tend to notice these things and haven’t always had the same experience elsewhere.)
As for “crossing boundaries,” the wildest thing a barista here has ever say to me or anyone else here is, “Your order is ready.” No unsolicited dreams, no cryptic confessions — just excellent coffee, once when I was in a particularly daring mood, I solicited feedback from one of the staff on a writing project I had been working on there, which is where I do most of my writing. As opposed to brushing me off they took the time to glance at my work and give me some thoughts. I had realized after the fact that it may of been weird or off putting for the staff to entertain a request like that from a customer, but they humored me anyway. ( I don’t recommend soliciting writing advice from service staff unless you’re already have an established relation with the staff even then it’s best to let them focus on their jobs.)
In short, if you want a place where the drinks are on point, the service is thoughtful without being overbearing, and the atmosphere makes you feel genuinely welcome, this is a great spot, there are many excellent cafes in inner se, but this is my...
Read moreHaving recently visited Portland's Coffee Roasters on Southeast Oak Street, I was thoroughly impressed by this charming local cafe. The moment you walk in, you're greeted by an inviting atmosphere that strikes the perfect balance between cozy and spacious. The cafe offers abundant seating arrangements suited for various needs – comfortable couches for casual meetups, well-spaced tables for those looking to spread out with work, and intimate corners perfect for getting lost in a good book. The thoughtful interior design creates distinct zones while maintaining an open, airy feel throughout. Their menu is a testament to quality over quantity. The cream cheese bagels we ordered were exceptional – perfectly toasted with a generous layer of creamy spread. What truly stood out, however, were their beverages. The hot chocolate struck an ideal balance between rich and sweet, clearly made with high-quality chocolate rather than a powdered mix. The iced mocha was equally impressive, with a robust coffee flavor complemented by just the right amount of chocolate. Beyond the core offerings, Portland's Coffee Roasters boasts an impressive selection of snacks, from locally-sourced pastries to healthier options, accommodating various dietary preferences. What elevates this establishment above many competitors is the seamless blend of excellent product quality and thoughtful ambiance. The background music maintains a pleasant volume that encourages conversation without requiring raised voices. For those seeking a reliable spot to connect with friends, tackle a work project, or simply enjoy a moment of solitude with quality refreshments, Portland's Coffee Roasters on Southeast Oak Street delivers on all fronts. It embodies what a neighborhood café should be – a versatile space serving exceptional products with genuine care for the customer...
Read moreAs a service worker, it’s incredibly sad to see people and a business care more about money than taking care of someone when a mistake was made. I ordered through door dash and received the complete wrong order. I reached out to door dash but they haven’t gotten back to me about a refund even with pictures proof from me and the dashers drop off pic. I drove to the cafe and explain my situation and show them my DoorDash app with all the proof and they tell me “oh yeah that were a lot of Jessica’s… sorry, once it’s out the door it’s DoorDash’s problem. They can offer you a refund but we’d have to charge you”. So without a refund and without knowing id get a full one or on at all, my only option was to purchase again. Made to feel it’s my fault for my name and ordering through door dash and like most of us I just wanted my daily coffee so yes I did buy it. Don’t worry folks, already canceled my door dash subscription because I won’t be tipping people to mess up my order- and you shouldn’t either. As for Portland coffee roasters, I’m a bit disappointed and hope they enjoyed the extra bucks they...
