My family surprised me, taking me here for a milestone birthday. It was a Thursday night and they were pretty busy. We got seated right away, and, since it was a special occasion got a bevy of appetizers. The spicy garlicky cucumbers we so good, not too spicy and refreshing. Some in my family are not egg plant fans, however, if they were prepared as they do at Toya, they would probably eat them everyday. The star of the appetizer menu in my opinion though was the Hawaiian Kanpachi. It was so amazingly fresh and the sauce it was served over was so delicious and subtle, it truly highlighted the fish. They have a variety of interesting cocktails. As there were 7 of us, we ordered a wide variety of them and then passed them around saying “try this”, “it’s amazing”. And they all were really good. You know how some drinks have 15 ingredients and you are not sure why? At Toya, all their ingredients in their cocktails seemed well thought out and work very well together. So when you are reading the cocktail menu and go what the heck is that? Just try it, it will be delicious. I also tried their house made orange and grapefruit soda. They are hand made and I was told it is a laborious process, but it is well worth it. The most delicious soda’s I have had. Authentic fruit taste, great carbonation, a touch of sweetness, perfect as far as I was concerned. As for the reason we came here for, the ramen, everything we had was out of this world. The Shio Al Tartufo was so delicious, it was light and so flavorful. The Tom Yum Men was spot on, hearty broth and great flavors. I went unconventional with the Carbonaramen. It is exactly what is sounds like, a perfectly cooked egg on a bed of ramen noodles with chicken butter, prosciutto, black pepper, pecorino etc. it was so luxurious and decadent I can’t recommend it enough. If you can’t tell, I was highly impressed with everything I ate, as were all my family. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, the wait staff excellent and it was an overall...
Read moreCame here for a celebration dinner. The service was great. we came in on a Sunday where it was pretty slow and wanted to sit side by side and they accommodated us, which was very sweet of them to do. Our server was also really warm and friendly. we ordered a couple of drinks. The whiskey yuzu drink called next of kin and a congac drink called Hawaiian velvet. They were both looked good in presentation and tasted well but the next of kin drink was about 3 small sips and all ice. (it's have a picture) I end up giving the honored guest my Hawaiian velvet drink because of this. Rum club is like a block over and has really delicious cocktails. we just didn't think the cup of ice was worth the 16$. For appetizers we had the blue fin tuna cheviche and the karaage chicken which reminded us of favors from Hawaii and was absolutely our favorite part. for dinner we ordered one spicy tom yum men ramen and one new school shoyu ramen. Maybe it was an off night for the cook or something but my guest said their tom yum men tasted like cup ramen with chicken flavor packet with lime and would have rather had regular tom yum soup. And the presentation of the tom yum men looked thrown together unlike the new school shoyu ramen which was well put together. The new school shoyu was highly recommended by other reviewers but my noodles were overcooked plus the texture was off and I didn't end up eating most of it. so I cannot reccomend either dish. we were pretty disappointed and since this was supposed to be a celebration dinner. I felt bad because I was the one who wanted to try Toya ramen & bar. We didn't complain to the server because they were so nice and the ramen and drinks were not their fault. End up spending well over 100$+ here and with the cool atmosphere and lovely service people aside, it was not worth it in my opinion but like I said, it could have been a off night for the cook. when the best thing is the appetizers and not the ramen at a ramen place, what...
