My husband and I dined here a few days ago and we had a disappointing experience. First, I ordered the Sausage and Shrimp Gumbo, and she returned to tell me that they didn't have Sausage and Shrimp Rissoto. Not what I ordered, but not a big deal. I clarified that I wanted the Gumbo and all was fine. After we ate our meals, we were anxiously waiting for her to return so that we could put a dessert order in before the kitchen closed. Two minutes before the kitchen closed I was finally able to call her over from where she was standing in front of the kitchen window. Thankfully we got the order in on time, but if we had waited for her to return, we would not have. Then we waited for her to return after putting our dessert order in, so she could clear our plates, and offer refills, as we had empty glasses at the end of the table for quite some time. She did not return until she had the dessert in hand. I like to order a dessert martini after my meal, and I attempted to do so, but I was told that the bar had closed. I commented that I had been waiting for her to return for quite a while so I could order it, but she never did. She said, "oh, yeah, it's been busy tonight". It may have been a busy night, but at the time that we were there...she had one other table that was also finishing up. She was walking all around doing her closing side work, rather than assuring that her customers had everything they needed before the bar and kitchen closed. Which leads me to an overall complaint of 110 Grill...it seems to be a policy to not finish serving diners, if they're there even a minute after close. A table who finishes their meals a couple minutes before or after close, should be allowed to order dessert. And if 110 is going to insist that they cannot, then their servers should check if their existing tables would like dessert before it's too late. Same with drinks. If they refuse to dirty a shaker 5 minutes past close for a table trying to wrap up a nice dinner with a quick dessert martini, then they should stop by the table before it closes and let their customers know about last call.
Update: 110 Grill reached out to us and assured us that not only is this not a policy, but they had multiple staff meetings to remind their employees of that. They offered us generous compensation and an opportunity to come back and have a better experience, and we definitely did. Our dinner was delicious, our server attentive and kind. We really appreciate how 110 handled this situation, and we will continue to dine...
Read moreWe were a party of 12 with reservations celebrating my cousins son's confirmation. Some of us traveled from Florida for the occasion. We arrived and waited 30 minutes after our reserved time for our table to be ready. 2 servers took our beverage orders. Then proceeded to spill a glass of water and a glass of wine on three of our party and then a glass of beer on three others of our party on the other side of the table. Accidents do happen. But two in a row. The servers quickly disappeared and left us to clean up the messes. Eventually one server took an appetizer order from one of our party. When they arrived the rest of us asked if we could order appetizers. But the servers disappeared again. 20 minutes later they returned to take our dinner orders. After that no one showed up to ask for more beverage orders or to follow up about more appetizers. Another 30 minutes passed and our entrees arrived. The food was good. However, although many of us asked for refills of our beverages and water it was never delivered. We did notice in a pantry/wait station adjacent to our table, that six servers were gathered eating and joking everywhere. One point two people in our party had toclear the dishes from our table and bring them into the wait station. Finally my cousin had called and was told dhe could bring a frozen cake in for the celebratory dessert. She did so, instructing the staff to place the cake in a freezer. They said they would. However when she cut into the ice cream cake it had melted and ran everywhere. At no time during this debacle did a manager come to check on us ot address the horrid service. Indeed, upon leaving the grand mother and I asked to see the manager. Fifteen minutes later when he could deign to speak with us, after hearing what happened he simply said "no, that's not right. That's not how we do business" and walked away. This is outrageous. I can not believe your business is built on this sub par customer service. I can assure you that there are a dozen people who were treated in this off hand manner who intend to write reviews about what happened. I thought you should be aware of what goes on in your Portsmouth New...
Read moreIâve heard such rave reviews about this place but was sorely disappointed. We started with an antipasto appetizer. What was listed on the menu was not what was on the plate. There was no sliced chorizo and there was 1 piece each of the âcured hamâ and prosciutto. It states that there would be fresh apples (non-existent) and the âtoasted ciabattaâ was simply toasted bread (in fact the same bread used for my grilled cheese).
110 Cucumber and Avocado tuna - Cajun flavored tuna is an odd taste for this style of dish and the rice was soggy yet burnt/crunchy at the same time. The textures were entirely wrong.
Hot Honey Chicken - you could barely taste the hot honey. We had to ask for more to add to the sandwich. The cut of chicken used for the sandwich was sub-par as well. (No lie - Iâd prefer Wendyâs over them)
Grilled cheese & creamy tomato soup - my first complaint is that it is listed under a section that says âchoose 1 sideâ yet it does not come with a side. That should be noted on the menu. And then AGAIN with the ciabatta. Youâre given Texas toast NOT ciabatta. Soup is delicious though and I do like the combination of American and goat cheese. I did not taste the garlic aioli, however.
Sides: Garlic Mashed potato - definitely not garlic flavored and had a wallpaper paste like texture to it. They were awful. I hate wasting food so I always bring things home, but I left these behind after 2 bites.
French fries - really good. Although if you mess up fries I donât know how youâd be in business still. I do like that they still have the skin on and, therefore, are likely less processed.
The waitress, tomato soup, and French fries gave this...
