Ridiculously good. Fast service, incredibly kind and humorous staff, finger-licking amazing food, and a classy establishment. The biggest surprise for me was the oyster bar. I did not know that people farmed oysters like others brew craft beer. My server, Laura, gave me the low down with enthusiasm that was catching. So I tried one of each. And wow! She was right: each oyster truly does have their own unique taste! My personal favorites were the Island Creek and the Savage Blonde. They had such a delightful rainbow of flavors. I honestly didn't know that oysters could taste that good. Never thought I would want to go on an oyster tour before, but Laura sure convinced me otherwise. I also had the crispy oyster slider. Normally, I don't like pickled things, but the pickled onions added a fantastic sweetness to match the spicy sauce. The crispy oyster was juicy and tender. I could have had three of those for dinner and been thrilled. Last, I had the lobster roll with butter. Simple, sweet, amazing. The bread was what made it. High quality bread that only emphasized the generous amount of lobster. And the chips that came with it were crunchy and salty and mmmmm, so snackable. Sometimes, I question going to fancy restaurants and laying down larger sums of money. Too often, I have been ripped off by "fancy" food that is overcooked, tiny, and served by grouchy staff. Not here. Here, every penny is worth the quality of food, of service, and of establishment. Laura made me feel like I was the star of the show and the food made me loosen my belt and waddle home, more than content. One of the best meals I have had in years. I hope I can replicate even a quarter of their success with The Row 23 Cookbook. Thank you to Row 23 and Laura for the incredible experience! This is what food should be.

I loved everything about Row 34 from the warm welcome by the host, till I walked Out the door with my delicious doggy bag. Grady, whose attentiveness and sweet demeanor evade the visit a pleasant one from the start, to the delightful selection of dishes, every aspect of my meal was a culinary delight. Dining solo can sometimes be a little daunting or awkward, however, the host made me feel right at home right away. After conversing with Grady about the Four Agreements, we decided the best plan of action was to start with the biscuit, with honey and rosemary infused butter…next level scrumptious. Order it, do not hesitate. Next came the fresh oysters, fresh and perfectly presented, yum. For my main course, the mussels were a highlight, tender and flavorful, swimming in a broth that begged to be savored with every dunk of crusty bread. And just when I thought the meal couldn't get any better, the butterscotch pudding arrived, a creamy indulgence that left me longing for just one more spoonful, and remembering why butterscotch pudding was a childhood favorite. Overall, my dining experience was nothing short of exceptional. This restaurant is more than just a place to eat; it's a destination where food, ambiance, and hospitality converge to create a truly memorable evening.

The TLDR: It's great, go to here! Row 34 is a pretty frickin' solid dining experience. This was our second visit to one after lunch at their location in Boston a month ago. That should tell you something. Anyway, this visit was for dinner and as usual that starts with cocktails. I selected the Harvest Moon, a bourbon-based cocktail that was so good, I had a second one. My partner ordered a Negroni but they were out of Campari so she subbed Cynar which was also quite good. For starters, we both chose the New England Clam Chowder which was really delicious although the house-made saltine was a little too salty. For our mains, I chose the Fish and Chips and my partner had the Warm Buttered Lobster Roll. We'd also both had the lobster roll at the Boston location, let me tell you something, the lobster meat was so sweet, delicious and there was a ton of it so yeah, you can't go wrong with that choice. Shoestring fries were also really good. Fish and Chips were good but the lobster roll edges it out for tastiness. Lastly, I chose the Butterscotch Pudding for dessert on both visits. It's fantastic, so rich and creamy! Waitstaff were friendly, helpful, and attentive at both locations. We'd def return and recommend this place to friends.

We were visiting Portsmouth and decided to drop into Row 34 to try the lobster roll and I'm glad that we did. I'll get straight to the point, this was one of the best lobster rolls I've ever had. You have the choice of either the warm butter or the creamy roll. I asked the waitress which one she preferred. She said both were good, but I could tell by the inflection in her voice she definitely like the butter roll better and that's what I ended up getting. There was an ample amount of buttery lobster goodness surrounded by a soft bread lathered in even more butter. The lobster was super fresh and the entire dish was very filling. The chips that came with it seemed like they were made in house and provided a nice addition to the meal. It's a little bit expensive at $21 but worth the price. We went for lunch, but the place also has a good amount of craft beers available. Good lobster and beer, you can't really beat that combination.

The moon shoal, Blish point and 1620s (oysters) I HIGHLY recommend. If you’re unsure the servers here are very knowledgeable. I had the pleasure of watching the chef’s go over dinner specials with their servers. It was wonderful to see how small tastes were given and in depth explanations of flavours were provided. The tuna crudo was to die for - my only complaint is there wasn’t enough of it! I had the mussels as my main - delicious and well cleaned but a little on the spicy side, so, if chili isn’t for you, avoid them. My dirty martini was smooth and well mixed. Overall - delicious fresh seafood with a lot of Asian ( I’d guess Balinese from the Sambal matah I got to taste - THANK YOU )influence. My partner had a clam roll and he said it was one of the best he’s ever eaten. This was a 5/5 as we had no complaints, we will be back! Thank you all so much, your establishment and food was lovely!

Seeing as I am a friend of the head chef, I can personally vouch for the skill of the kitchen, and the freshness of the product. Chef Ryan personally visits the oyster beds he chooses to put on the menu, and ensures that the fish used is the best he can get his hands on. Having been here with my fiancée a few times, I can also attest to the service being exemplary. The bar and restaurant is clearly one of the most popular places in Portsmouth right now, and for good reason. That being said, a reservation would be wise, as it is almost constantly busy. If you're visiting Portsmouth, it's an absolute must-visit, and if you're a local, it's the place to go for top notch locally sourced seafood. Row 34, headed by chef Ryan, is nothing short of the greatest seafood restaurant between Boston and Portland, giving the best restaurants in those two other cities a run for their money as well.
