I’ve been to Coyote Coffee a few times because my husband likes it and we usually prefer supporting a smaller business as opposed to a larger corporation. Unfortunately I’ll be picking the larger corporation from now on. It’s very disappointing to me that so many of their options use a powder base that has dairy in it. I have a dairy allergy and I don’t enjoy coffee so I always opt for a chai latte with almond milk. Even if I substitute for a non-dairy milk, the chai powder they use still has dairy in it. It’s super frustrating in this day and age when so many people have this type of sensitivity/allergy. They keep a list on the counter of at least a dozen different menu items that contain dairy in their powder, so even if you order the non-dairy milk it doesn’t make a difference. Furthermore, if you order online, it does not specify anywhere about these allergens. They do not provide an allergen menu nor do the items themselves state they contain dairy. Now in all the coffee shops/cafes I’ve ever been to, they always use a liquid chai base that is naturally dairy free. Actually most drinks you order at a coffee shop are naturally dairy free at the base. So it simply depends on which milk option you pick. I believe most people ordering online would assume ordering themselves a chai and substituting a non-dairy milk would give them a non-dairy drink. But this would be misleading because in-store they state that all their chai mixes contain dairy, as well as a dozen+ other drink options. They should really specify this in online ordering or somewhere on their website. If you’d never been into their cafe and saw the single piece of paper with the allergens on it, you could unknowingly order yourself a drink you are allergic to.
And finally, when you go inside to order, their LED menu boards are truly the hardest thing to read. My husband and I have both commented on it to each other every single time we have been inside. And we both are in our 20s and don’t wear glasses, so I can’t imagine how hard it is to read for anyone older and/or who has impaired vision. We brought his father there the other day and he said “wow that is so hard to read”. They should really pick different colors for the background and font to make it easier to read. You’d think they’d want to make it as customer friendly as possible.
I do have to say, their food was pretty good. We only got some breakfast sandwiches one time but they were yummy. My husband also enjoys their coffee a lot. He says the flavors...
Read moreI never write reviews ever. But I guess being pregnant has me picky and frustrated. This is food for thought- and purely about effort in the appeal and texture of their ICED drinks. The flavors are decent. I hate to say it but Coyote Coffee has always delivered very thin/ flat iced drinks. I have been several times and all of the iced drink variations look the same, taste like milk and espresso stirred together with a few ice cubes poured into a cup.. maybe it is personal preference but the only appeal to iced espresso drinks as opposed to straight iced coffee is for the thick, creamy espresso with a layer of crema or some sort of dimension, variation and options for foam.
I asked what a macchiato had when ordering one, and explained I was hoping for something comparable to the “Venti Starbucks caramel macchiato” since in the past, the girls have always insisted they know the popular drinks Starbucks puts out and can mostly recreate them. So I wanted to try their version with their espresso. (The speaker is also very poor quality and I was asked to repeat myself several times, not their fault. That should be fixed as well.)
The gentleman told me there was a layer of foam on top of their caramel macchiatos when explaining what it was. So I chose that solely because of this, and again explained what I wanted, stating a large size. Hoping for something different than what I have always received. I was given something that looked kind of like the color of chocolate milk over ice.. no color variation/ or foam or noticeable syrup. It was also medium. When I asked about it he said, “oh the foam machine was broken.” (Something that should be disclosed when ordering- not just given to you without part of the ingredients, expecting you not to notice) When ordering iced macchiatos/ lattes/ specialty drinks we are wanting layers, with an ombre of flavors, syrup and foam. Each sip with its own experience. The thin and watery iced drinks do not feel like what is expected for the aesthetic coffee shop price point (commensurate with Starbucks prices). Presentation is half of the art of the iced espresso experience :(
I would have kept it the way it was but I clearly ordered something different than what I wanted because it was so bitter. Thank you to the sweet lady who remade my drink into a 32 oz caramel latte when I went back in and explained what I was wanting again. It was alittle better/ sweeter.. but another thin, light iced drink (bottom half warm) not what I originally...
Read moreI love coming to this establishment at least 3-5 times a week but over the last few weeks I started limiting how many time Im over here because my orders were not being made properly. So today I came for my usual the “Howling scramble” bowl with avocado on top. which I my favorite breakfast bowl in the powdersville area. When I called the order in. I was immediately told they were out of tomatoes. So I asked if someone was there to walk 500 ft to the grocery store right behind the establishment. Of course she giggled & said no……. So I said okay well I still want the bowl with my white coyote frozen drink. When I arrived to pick up my order. The food was ready, so checked out & left. Got to my car & the first thing I noticed there was no avocado on top & no tomatoes “of course”…. So the bowl looked extra dry considering I just paid $17 & dropped the $2 plus change in the tip jar. So $20 for a bowl with no tomatoes or avocado. When I got back inside I told her it had no avocado so she took the bowl & came back & said “yes it does” See it’s right here mixed inside. It was two pieces of avocado chopped when usually they slice 4 halves & place them on top. So when she said they were mixed into the bowl I just said okay & walked out. Get back to my car open the bowl took about two bites & BAM it’s a long brown strand of hair. At this point I’m very frustrated. So instead of writing a review I said well let me call because I really like this place & I don’t want to cause any problems because I’m always up here. I just need them to know that lately it’s been a lot of problems with my order & today I can’t go without letting the company know. I run a business so I know how it is in business but the professionalism over the phone was not there at all today. They did not care about my food having hair in it & like I told the young lady on the phone I don’t want another bowl at this point & I don’t want a refund. I just think it may be best if I just take my dollars else where. I hate for this to be how I end things with coyote coffee but I will not spend another dime in this establishment. I have referred so many people here but starting today I Will Never mention this...
