The Local Oven — Restaurant in Prairie du Chien

I love to search for and shop at local bakeries whenever I take a road trip. Coming across Local Oven while spending a day driving around Prairie du Chien was a treat on a recent summer Saturday. Enjoyed a couple Bismarcks, a maple bacon frosted donut, and assorted cookies that almost didn't make it home because they were so delish. Very cute gift shop adjacent to the bakery was fun to walk around and find some unique Wisconsin memorabilia. Not too much else on this quaint downtown Main Street, but Local Oven was well...

Love this place. We were passing through and decided to stop on a recommendation. It was worth it. Fun items to purchase, delish pastries and ice cream. The latter we weren't able to try, but the pastries were great as well was the selection of spices, teas and yummiest. I can't forget the service. Pop and son were friendly with a fun sense of humor. I'd stop if going...

Nothing fancy. The muffin I had was rock hard (not edible). My wife had an apple turnover that was good, so it kinda made up for the muffin. Maybe it was because we got there at the end of the day. Might be worth the stop if you get there when they open. I will give them credit for being 1 of the few places that was open on a Tuesday...
