Tropical Smoothie Cafe — Restaurant in Prescott Valley

BEWARE! Really disappointed in this place and the lack of customer service and concern. Let me start off by saying, I HATE writing bad reviews. But this one came down to a major safety concern that I could not get anyone to address. I went in about 2 weeks ago and ordered a strawberry banana and chocolate smoothie. The taste was actually quite good, however about 1/5 of the way through, I choked on a foreign object. This definitely wasn’t a piece of fruit or anything that should have been in a smoothie. It felt like plastic or a piece of metal. It got lodged in the side of my throat and I tried everything to get it out. Luckily, it wasn’t blocking my airway so I was still able to breathe. It was however very sore and hard to swallow. Deeming how expensive it is to go to the hospital, I tried to wait it out a few hours and tried many different things to try to get it to dislodge. Luckily, after 5 hours, I was able to get this small object to go down. My throat was sore for at least 2 days afterwards. I immediately reached out via phone and by email to management. I was very concerned for other people safety and that the ingredients they used may have been contaminated. Despite numerous attempts, no one ever got back to me. I find this shocking, as this is not just a quality/taste issue- this is a major safety concern! And absolutely no one would get back with me. I was very patient- I waited 2 weeks before posting a review (I understand companies are busy) I didn’t repeatedly call, I was very kind and courteous in my email, I didn’t even ask for a refund- I simply wanted someone to acknowledge that they received my concern and were checking on things to make sure that no other customers had the chance of being injured like I was. The fact that the company didn’t even respond- it really shows their complete lack of concern or care about what they are making and selling and their lack of concern for their customers. Such a shame. I’ll never be back and for those thinking about going here- PLEASE be cautious. This issue could have been so much more serious. I just want to make others aware of the dangerous situation so that they can make a conscientious decision whether to come here or not. And please, for goodness sake- at least check your...

My fiance and I decided to try this out today. The menu looked good and we are both smoothie fans. We both ordered a lean smoothie w/strawberry and banana Splenda instead of the natural sugar. Initially they mixed-up our order and remade mine. We both took our first sip and were revolted. Other than an almost medicinal taste it was flavorless. The texture was chunky, not well blended. Appetite gone! After a brief discussion we decided to ask for a refund. mind you we did tip the server . After this request we sat for about 10 minutes while the manager called the owner. She then returned and informed us that no refund would be issued. We had taken ONE sip! I asked if I could speak with the owner and was told no.but she would take my information and call me. We live in the Phoenix area and are visiting Prescott for a few days. We have A Tropical Smoothie by our house in Chandler and frankly, it is very inconsistent in terms of quality and service.

This location in Prescott was the complete opposite. It is by FAR the CLEANEST location we have been to. Additionaly the service was superior to the location in Chandler we go to. Lastly, the items we ordered were great (half the time at the Chandler location we have to ask for items to be remade).
