Absolutely phenomenal. This Syrian restaurant served some of the most soulful, flavor-packed food I’ve had in a long time. Every bite tasted like it was made with love and tradition passed down through generations. The kibbeh was perfectly crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, paired with a cool garlic dip that tied it all together beautifully. The falafel? Crispy, fragrant, and absolutely bursting with flavor. And the shawarma wrap? A masterpiece. Juicy chicken, tender lamb, fresh veggies, crispy fries inside. Every layer was cooked and seasoned to perfection. This isn’t fast food. This is food made straight from the heart. You can taste the care in every detail. Will definitely be back!

WOW WOW WOW! ✨ Ive had a lot of middle eastern food, and this is some of the best! Al-Shami is “Home of the Arabian Delicacies” and not a single lie was told. We ordered the Chicken Shawarma and Kufta Kebab Plates. We were given a falafel each since the chef/owner said it would be about 20 minutes since we came as soon as it opened but he has fast hands! The falafel was delicious. The meat was well flavored, the rice fluffy and cooked to perfection. The star of the show was the garlic sauce! A little tart and rich with garlic flavor which rounded out every dish. Don’t sleep on the side salad either! We basically INHALED the food. Cannot wait to return!

The food was very disappointing. I’m writing this as a feedback for them, they need to improve the food. The spices the degree of cooking, everything. You don’t put lettuce on Shawarma. That is not authentic. And the meat was not cooked well neither seasoned properly. Tabuleh was full of oil and we did not touch it basically. Unfortunately we ended up throwing the food away. And I gave a six dollar tip, and we had to go bring the food ourselves. There was no service basically. Not sure why they ask for a tip. I think the place started very well initially and maybe now it’s going downhill. They need to make a revolution in the kitchen here.

The girl at the register was very kind and friendly, However. the cook which a I believe is the owner was one of the meanest angriest rudest creature you will ever meet. The entire time we were there he was mumbling under his breath cursing offensive words in his home language directed at the girl and every customer that came in and out of that diner. . He has the most foul mouth the nice girl kept asking him to stop as she suspected we spoke the language. Many times we were tempted to just leave but didn’t all because we felt bad for the nice girl who did her best to try and stay calm. As far as the food, it was less than average, the tabbouleh was fresh however had no dressing at all just a bunch of cut parsley. Not sure if the owner forgot to add the dressing while being angry at the world. We wanted out so fast I didn’t care to ask. We definitely...

Whenever I'm in a new city, I try to look for Middle Eastern food , so when we were in Rhode Island, I did the same, so I found this restaurant The Shawarma was delicious, and let me tell you, the portion size was huge. We also ordered the usual Hummus, Baba Ghanoush, Tabboleh, and Fatoush salad. But for some reason, it was extremely sour, esp the Baba Ghanoush, we could not even eat it and almost had to throw it away. It tasted as though it had gone bad. The salads too were very sour. The falafel was really good, fresh and crispy. It is a small place more like a grab and go kind. They did have 2 tables and 3 high chair seating but that is ok of you are by yourself or with one other person. For a big family, it is not possible to have everyone seated. Overall the person who took our order was very friendly and sweet. ...

Hands down the best wraps and plates on Thayer street, and more broadly in Providence. You expect restaurants to serve good food most of the times but Al-Shami delivers the absolute best food all of the times. How they consistently offer the best chicken, lamb and falafel plates still baffles me, and this is after being a regular for more than 6 months now. I usually get their shawarma plates with salad and garlic sauce on the side. The garlic sauce is so unique and flavorful that I have offered an arm and a leg in exchange for the recipe. We often get our group events catered by them only to have our collective minds blown away by the flavors and variety of dishes. Even the leftovers from lunches catered by them go faster than anything else we have gotten catered from...
