Another day, another chance for more tacos with the RI Food Fight's TacoMania. This time we started with Diego's. As it was a Saturday, no tables were available from reservations but we were able to grab a seat at the bar. The space is open, dark. A blend of Mexican homage and industrial brick. An open kitchen gives you the chance to watch your meal be prepared in full view. Our bartender, Greer was super friendly and balanced attentiveness. She is detail oriented and was very accommodating. She quickly took care of our drinks and got our food order in ASAP. They offered a limited menu for TacoMania and I chose the carne option. It came out in a crunchy blue corn tortilla. After a squeeze of lime, I dug in. The crunch was everything you wanted it to be and more. The beef with queso fundido made this a slight messy but overall delicious taco. We got the cornbread souffle to share and it was outstanding. The souffle itself was savory and very corn forward, as opposed to the sweeter cornbread you see in the south. They add a touch of something sweet to balance it out. My friend had the shrimp chimichirri tacos and they said they were a 10/10. So glad to find another tasty spot in the TacoMania trail!

I can’t help but rave about my unforgettable experience at Diego’s Eastside! From the moment I stepped in, I was greeted by an incredibly attentive bar staff, with a special shout-out to Syd, who went above and beyond to ensure every moment of my visit was exceptional. The food at Diego’s Eastside was nothing short of amazing. The crack fries were the perfect combination of crispy and flavorful, and the cornbread was an absolute delight that melted in my mouth. As a food enthusiast, I was thoroughly impressed by the culinary craftsmanship. But the culinary excellence wasn’t limited to the food alone – the drinks were an absolute treat. Each sip was a burst of flavor that perfectly complemented the vibrant atmosphere of the place. Diego’s Eastside has truly set a benchmark for providing not just a meal, but a complete experience. The attention to detail, warm ambiance, and outstanding service, especially from Syd, made it a memorable evening. I left with a content stomach, a joyful heart, and plans to return soon. Thank you, Diego’s Eastside, for delivering an extraordinary dining experience that exceeded all expectations. Kudos to the team for their dedication to making every moment count!

After 12mi of biking into Providence I saw Diegos and got so excited wondering if it was affiliated with the Newport location(which I LOVE) and this is their newest spot. We had bikes with us and it was a beautiful day to sit outside and enjoy the patio and ambiance. Chris our server was so accommodating and allowed us to park our bikes behind where we were seated in the corner to not be in anyone's way. The cocktails are what really excites me with many delicious options. I went with the Bride of Carlos and Bad Larry (SO GOOD)!! I ordered a couple small plates for myself Mini Quesadillas and the Pork Belly Endive Bites which were pretty good. Chris and Daisy provided excellent customer service and were very friendly. The decor is so beautiful and vibrant. If you're driving to this location there's on street parking. There's also cute little shops to walk around and explore the area. Will always come to Diegos for the craft cocktails!

girlfriend and i decided to give diego’s a go based upon a friends recommendation. sadly, it missed most marks. Richard L, our server, from the beginning seemed to fumble. Took about 20 min for him to come over, clear plates but never bring water for our empty cups. we ordered cocktails, the death proof is what i chose and it was the best part of the meal, and my gf said the same about her drink. after our drinks were brought out , we ordered food and and asked politely if water could be brought to the table….once again Rich seemed to forget all about that. the shrimp empanadas finally arrive and at this point he finally says how he forgot to bring us waters. no big deal , i resume and ask about the margarita specials that i read go on during trivia , which we were present for . Condescendingly so, he calls it the “el cheapo” which i personally had to ask if he was being funny or was it the actual name and i guess the owners own tone death attitudes may find that funny?! because surely enough that’s what they label it as on the menu ….not sure…regardless he did not know the flavors and made me feel stupid for even considering , i still ordered one 🤷🏽‍♂️. i got the burrito with beef birria and my girl got fajitas with the chipotle chicken. food was overly salty , beef birria looked as dry as dog food and served cold…no love or passion to this food , on top of super small portions for the price. all in all, the place was cute, the drinks were good but at the price of everything, you’d expect them to be, but sadly the service and the food all left a lot more to be desired. spent 100 dollars for two people and left quite underwhelmed. with a few tweaks , and a little more love and culture into the food and how it all is presented , it would and could make a night and day difference. best of luck but not sure if i’d return with so many more amazing options in our little city...

UPDATE I was so incredibly sick with food poisoning the next day. This makes sense because the food looked old and as if it were sitting out all day, thrown together at the end of the night for my takeout order. The shrimp burrito was a mess and the guacamole was brown. The queso was also extremely runny and had a chalky texture to it. I’ll never be back here

I ordered the queso fundido, a shrimp burrito, mini beef nachos, and Mexican ice cream sundae. The email I received stated that my order would be ready by 9:46. I placed the order at 9:26. There were no instructions for curbside pickup. No one bothered to approach the vehicle with its hazards on - the restaurant asked for the make, model, and color of my vehicle. I called the restaurant and a woman who sounded incredibly bothered answered the phone and asked “well are you here?”. The place was absolutely dead and there were two parties left in the restaurant. She finally brought the order out to me and the food was absolutely disgusting. The nachos were dry, had 0 toppings on them when I asked for multiple, my queso was watery and tasteless, the burrito was cold, and the ice cream was COMPLETELY melted. I understand that you were closing in less than ten minutes (before I figured I should probably call and ask about my order since they aren’t honoring their curbside option) but you CANNOT send food out when it looks like that… dry, old, carelessly assembled, and just gross honestly. I really wanted to love this place but it was not friendly and the food was awful. Perhaps if they took the extra moment to assemble the plates with effort and actually heat it up, the poor taste would be made up for. It’s honestly not such a surprise that they were that dead on a...

We had to wait over an hour for a table which wasn’t a problem as it was a busy night and we were a party of 4 walk in but once we were seated with our server named Jasmine C is when the problems started. I ordered a second drink and after waiting 15-20 minutes asked what happened to it and found out that Jasmine C never ordered it. If I hadn’t asked about it I doubt she would have checked if I wanted another drink. Then when we ordered dinner I ordered 2 pulled pork tacos and when the food arrived I only received one. When I asked where the other order was jasmine said “ oh I’ll put that in now” and walked away. 15 minutes later she brings me a chicken taco order, which wasn’t what I had originally ordered so I sent it back and politely asked for it to be removed from the bill, as the rest of my party had finished 20 minutes earlier. To which she grabbed it from me and rolled her eyes and said “okay…” with an attitude as she walked away. Then she avoided our table and dropped the check quickly and on the check she had charged me for an extra cucumber drink that I didn’t order. Overall experience was not pleasant and getting an attitude from someone making the mistakes was quite infuriating as I thought I was being respectful when asking for the food to be removed and getting our bill adjusted. I hope the rest of the wait staff isn’t like jasmine C when they deal with issues...
