We were excited to be able to go back to Chach now that she has reopened her full menu with indoor table service after the abbreviated Mexican covid take-out menu was in place for a while.
Today, however, we went in with our two year old grandson and ordered breakfast and looked forward to a terrific meal. Anyone who has a toddler in their life knows that they sometimes need to be asked to quiet down or need a little redirection. Our grandson is actually very well behaved in restaurants so when Chach herself came out of the kitchen to reprimand us for our grandson's behavior, telling us that he was becoming "a problem", we were completely taken by surprise.
Immediately, we were made to feel unwanted, unwelcome and uncomfortable. The people at the next table were equally taken aback and told us that they thought Chach was being totally obnoxious. She behaved in an unkind, hostile way and obviously doesn't like kids.
If there were any notification alerting us that children were not welcome, we would not have gone in.
We have taken our grandson to some of the finest restaurants on Cape Cod, in New York City and elsewhere when we travel and have never experienced anything similar to the reception we just received from Chach.
Sadly, we will not be going back to Chach which had been one of our favorite places in...
Read moreI love this place! Parking is a serious pain. You have to wait for a spot, and then once you are inside, you wait again for a table. With that said, it was worth the wait. The decor inside is colorful, the atmosphere vibrant and I loved the specials written on chalkboards. There are fans everywhere for air movement and the bathrooms are clean. Food was completely excellent, we ordered a range of dishes and while I usually fall back on a cobb-ish type salad in absence of anything else (without sugar or starch), it was actually outstanding here and the buttermilk ranch dressing totally made it. Can't wait to have it again. Coffee is hot and always full, juice seems fresh and the dishes and presentation are fun.
Our server, while very nice, actually discouraged us from ordering so much food and made for a very awkward interaction between he and my excited, hungry husband, in front of all of the other patrons. For the record, he is 150 lbs and ordered two breakfasts and 2 extra sides and ate everything. It was a bit of a downer though to have to dispute an order with the server, however well-intended he may have been, that you are later giving your money to and brought everyone's mood down a bit.
Aside from that, certainly...
Read moreThey don't like young kids! We were there this morning with our 1.5 and 3.5 year old kids. Our youngest was unfortunately pretty cranky and loud. We felt embarrassed and tried our best to keep him quiet but everyone with young kids knows that this isn't always possible. Especially with a 1.5 year old. Once we had the food for 5 minutes one of the waiters, a very rude one, (with a neck tattoo, grey hair, and glasses) came and asked us to take him outside as other guests were bothered (which I don't think was the case). My wife was taking our kid out and on the way out the owner (Chach) told her very rudely that we should leave. We were still in the middle of the meal. Other guests were shocked too. They didn't want us to pay and just asked us to leave. The owner was arguing with my wife saying "she didn't care about our money". I couldn't help myself but tell very rude words to the owner on the way out. The rude waiter said this shows where the kids have it from ... The other waiters were very nice and seemed embarrassed by the owner and the rude waiter. If you have young kids don't go to this place- the food is nothing special either so do yourself a favor because these people are not friendly...
