Quite possibly the best pizza I've had in UT, and that's saying something. Two Jacks offers quality pizza, with fresh ingredients, and top notch service. If you're the owner of a pizza joint here in town, and you think you have them beat, let me know.
POSITIVES: I've been here multiple times. Without hesitation, I will order their cheese sticks - basically a mini pizza of cheesy bread cut into rectangles. Paired with the marinara, it makes an excellent appetizer.
Now, regarding the pizzas themselves, I marvel at the perfection of this dough. Crispy bottom, a perfect leathery layer above that. The top edges are browned perfectly to add additional crisp, but retain its fluffy, enticing interior. Even granny's buttery, old-fashioned loaves has got nothing on this flavor. For toppings, it comes down to preference. I prefer my pizzas to have an abundance, yet harmonious amount of sauce, cheese, and toppings. If that is your preference, Two Jacks has got your back.
The decor is simple, yet charming. I adore the entrance, with the seating at a bar/counter next to giant glass windows. It's actually quite brilliant marketing - free advertisement!
Their dipping sauces are spectacular, especially the ranch and marinara. Both are thick and flavorful, and are served with generous portions in styrofoam cups, although they do cost extra. I very much appreciate the provided shakers of red pepper flakes and parmesan cheese at each sitting area as well.
NEGATIVES: take note, there were a couple things that bothered me, but neither were enough to really dock a star from the rating. #1- there was a pool of grease from our pizza, but that again comes down to preference. I love meaty pizzas. With such comes a hefty amount of grease. However, the taste and texture were hardly influenced in any negative way. It simply didn't look extremely appetizing. #2 - there was a foul smell right next to the drinking fountains that wreaked of onions or body odor, pretty close to the open window/counter where the kitchen is located. I'm not sure whether the smell came from an employee, or if the onion supply is contained directly behind said window, or perhaps it was the table of customers that happened to be sitting at the table nearest. I'm giving the benefit of the doubt, but I would recommend looking into it, as it happened as I passed by twice.
PRICE: approx. $7-15 per person. A large 16-inch ranges from $16-25, but can feed 3-4 people easily.
RECOMMENDED: definitely the cheese sticks. Any of their pizzas, but I love a simple pepperoni and...
Read moreYou know, I had this hankering – one of those feelings where you just gotta eat something real specific. I remembered Two Jack’s Pizza from a while back. The kinda place that gives you those fond food memories? So, I thought, why not take a trip down that food memory lane again?
So, my dad and I head on down to Provo, Utah. You'd think it’s just another Thursday night but this place was jam-packed. I mean, it's like people know something I don’t. Or maybe, they just remembered something I forgot. Either way, a busy pizza joint? That’s a good sign in my book.
We decide to go with a large sausage and mushroom pizza. $18. Now, I've paid $18 for a lot of things in life, some worth it, some... not so much. But this pizza? It was like striking gold for $18. And honestly, if you told me I was eating a slice of French bread with toppings, I'd believe you. That crust was something else – like you're in Paris but instead of an Eiffel Tower view, you've got a view of a pizza oven. The sauce, my word, it's like they bottled up the soul of an Italian grandmother and spread it on the pizza. I mean, I've never met an Italian grandmother, but if I did, I’d imagine her sauce would taste just like this.
The sausage? It had that perfect amount of zing. Not the kind where you're fumbling for water, but just that right kick that makes you realize you're alive and eating some darn good sausage. And those mushrooms, they tasted like they were just picked from the finest fungi forest. Is that a thing? A fungi forest? I don't know, but if it is, Two Jack’s is getting their mushrooms from there.
Look, when it comes to pizza, you've got your big chains, your frozen pies, and then you've got places like Two Jack’s. The kind of place you daydream about during a really boring meeting or when you’re stuck in traffic. I tell ya, I can't wait to go back. And next time? I might just get two pies – one to eat there and one to reminisce about later. Because with pizza this good, memories just...
Read moreWHY have I never eaten here before? Shame on me! I'm in absolute Heaven! Semi recently divorced, I was so sick of pizza, this is my first one in four years. I used to frequent 5 Buck... but after I got married, my husband wouldn't eat anything but Pizza Hut. GAG! And then 5 Buck disappeared. YIKES! The other places couldn't hold a candle to 5 Buck for freshness and they were gone. My only complaint was sometimes their crust was undercooked (they blamed it on my wanting pineapple).
So there I go... ordering an 8" combo, breadsticks w/marinara and cinnamon sticks. It was a relief to see all the fresh ingredients (I think they secretly have a garden out back)... AND lots of pineapple! Everything looked exactly like the pictures! Every bite was full of rich, delicious flavor.... with nothing overpowering any other ingredient. The sauce was perfectly seasoned! I cook everything from scratch so I know how important balance is and how tricky it can be to achieve it. Sweet AND savory in the right combinations.
Now... about the service. My phone conversation was very pleasant and welcoming. I'd rather order over the phone (for pick up) than offer online and hope a live person actually sees it.... Been there... done that and waited and waited and waited. Grrr.
Everyone was busy doing something in the kitchen. Nobody was just standing around or to busy playing on their phone. The service was prompt and friendly. I felt immediately comfortable. Their attire told me this place was serious about being the best.. yet laid back at the same time.
On my way out, the young man at the counter hurried to the door and opened it for me! (I'm disabled but still used to doing everything for myself). That kind, surprising gesture and the food will keep me coming back.
Perfect crust, perfect ingredient combination, perfectly cooked and perfect customer service and atmosphere. 10/10🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆
P.S. The Niew Joizy bos can go back to their precious Joizy. We KNOW what good food...
