This is a decent place. It's one of those "do you want cheap food or quality food" places, which is not to say the food sucks. However, all these reviews I am reading are mostly regulars and family/friends of the owners acting like this place is the second coming of Jesus. The place serves average, quickly cooked food. There is absolutely nothing special about this place other than the prices. If this is the best tasting food you have ever had, you need to go to more restaurants and expand your palate before you start reviewing food.
If I lived in Pueblo I would go to this place every so often; it's like Burrito's Betty but with better food and a dine-in. Fast food prices with above fast food quality.
Also, this is Tex-Mex not authentic Mexican so make sure you understand that before buying anything. The dine-in is very small and densely packed. It is probably more for the regulars who feel like family, but as somebody who had never been there before it felt a little too clustered.
The staff was very friendly to me (I got a free donut hole too). I didn't like the fries, but the double cheeseburger I ordered was pretty good. It has an upper fast food class feel to it (think Drifter's, In-N-Out, Five Guys). Quesadilla wasn't the best but was still pretty tasty (especially for the price I think it was $3). I wasn't a fan of the chips and salsa. They were ok but the salsa had a cheap, watered-down taste to it. Have had much better complimentary chips and salsa served at almost every authentic Mexican dine-in restaurant...
Read moreMy boyfriend and I had a rough day on 10/10, we didn't have time to make supper, so we decided to stop and eat somewhere. We stopped by a couple restaurants and the wait was up to an hour. We were happy to see Rita's still open, with no wait to sit and we never ate there before. The man that seated us was rude towards us. He quickly took our orders rushing us. I was disappointed to here a microwave heating our supper. My boyfriend had a nacho supreme and it tasted likes last weeks reheated. I ordered chicken enchiladas, the green chilli was really good, but immediately I started to have stomach pain from the food and needed to get home to a restroom. But what bothered me the most, was the guy that seated us, I over heard him say a comment to the cook in the back they asked him why he didn't finish putting something away and he said, " well its not my fault 2 people come walking in just before we close." We didn't know they were about to close, they had the open sign up and that was embarrassing. He had a nasty attitude towards usand kept talking to a friend that came by to visit using foul language and talking about inappropriate things. There were 2 other tables with customers eating and I could tell they didn't appreciate hearing it either. The other guy that brought our food to us, was nice and treated us like paying customers that we are. Because of this bad experience we will never come back or recommend...
Read moreHonestly, I don't get it. I'm seeing a lot of five-star reviews here… I definitely did not get a five star experience. I love Mexican food and eat lots of it. But this place lacked a lot:
There is absolutely no sense of décor. It's basically just a big room with chairs and tables. They could just change the sign outside to Sushi or Pizza, and they would not have to change a thing inside.
I can forgive a lack of décor if the food is great. The food wasn't great. I got a combo plate with three different items, none of which were memorable (neither good nor bad — just okay). And this is the first Mexican restaurant I have ever been to that did not offer complimentary chips and salsa as an appetizer. That's just plain odd.
The servers were pretty slow, although that could be blamed on the fact that it was lunch time and the place was hopping.
There is only one bathroom, which is small and was stacked with supplies.
With others giving it such a high rating, I cannot help but wonder if those are from mostly local people who might be biased in their reviews (as I am in my own hometown) because they want to see the restaurant succeed. And I can't call it a bad experience — just not a great one...
