El Flamboyán — Restaurant in Puerto Rico

The guy at the counter was super friendly and the food was decent and fairly priced, lots of locals here and everyone was really nice! They have a good amount of outdoor seating on the patio with large concrete tables and a nice breeze, which I haven’t found to be very common around here, lots of stuffy hole in the wall restaurants with not a lot of air flow, so the openness of the place was great. They had horse racing playing on the tv and I don’t follow horse racing but it was fun watching other people get super into it. My parents and husband got the Cubano and fries, the fries were on point and crispy, the sandwiches they said were pretty good and filling! Flamboyant is a casual restaurant enjoyed by locals and visitors to the island. During my visit to PR I enjoyed their delicious coffee every morning (90 cents). I tried their bacon and egg breakfast as well as a BLT, both tasty and reasonably priced (under $5). The staff are friendly and very importantly they take covid precautions requiring use of hand sanitizer upon entering and require maintaining of social distancing. It’s a covered open air setting and little black birds fly in and out looking for crumbs. In evenings it can get a little busy with people patronizing bar and billiards area. I had breakfast this morning and it was OK. Seems like everyone there was drinking rather than eating other than a couple of little old ladies. The scrambled eggs were good and the french fries were cooked in fresh oil. The menu is rather limited for breakfast though. No pancakes or waffles, just eggs with a choice of meat. A few ants on the table weren't a big issue. Gotta expect that when eating outdoors. It's literally around the corner, so...
