I am prefacing my review by saying I am giving it five stars because of the food and our wonderful waitress victoria. This is my experience... Party of Three I called the day of to request a 6:00 p.m. reservation. I was told everything was fine and a half hour later I got a call telling me that they don't take parties of three at 6:00 p.m. and I would have to come at 5:30 which was really no problem and I agreed. Upon arrival I was greeted by a very harried, rushed and rude Hostess who I later found out was named brenda. She made us wait for our table and acted as if she didn't expect us and when she seated us she said of course you know that dinner seatings are 90 minutes so it is 5:30 now and you will have to be out of here at 7:00! I said no I did not know that and had I been told that then perhaps I would have chosen to go someplace else as I was looking forward to a Relaxed Dining experience. No response from her as she hurriedly rushed away in a flurry of angst. I had the opportunity to observe her the rest of the evening and she treated most guests with the same indifference and had just an utter lack of people skills. I saw many eye rolls and happened to depart the same time as two other couples who spoke to us of exactly the same treatment and lack of caring or personal skills. When we were first seated she actually tapped my friend on the shoulder and said could you move because your chair is sticking out and these people can't get in their seat which happened to not be true..... my friend was fine and the people sat themselves comfortably. She is just oblivious to what is going on around her and is in her own world in her own head spinning like a top. The restaurant deserves better than this horrible first impression. With that being said each of our meals were absolutely delicious. Prepared to perfection and served piping hot. Our waitress was out of this world and attentive to all...
Read moreHusband and I came here after looking up best restaurants in CT, unfortunately we did not have that experience. When we first walked in the woman at the host stand seemed put off that we were wearing masks and encouraged us to not wear them, told her we do this because it’s respectful even though we are vaccinated. Asked for a table inside and she turned around said to us “you know you’re going to be close to other people, right?” Maybe she didn’t mean it in a condescending way, but it was certainly an off putting way to begin our first experience here. Our server Allison(?) was lovely, she was obviously very busy but cared about our experience even though she had a million other things to do. The drink my husband ordered took a long time, our studies came out before the drink was made, she came over and apologized although she didn’t have to, we knew she was busy. We ordered the peach salad, which on the menu has got cheese listed, but the one we received had blue cheese. Normally we over look those things because cheese is cheese, but blue cheese is the singular cheese we hate. She had the kitchen remake us one but it came out with no cheese at all, haha. Regardless it was fresh and delicious and we were thankful she took the time to do it. We both ordered the swordfish, one regular one Portuguese. The Portuguese swordfish we could eat all day, the regular was a butter bomb, and I mean like it was four sticks of butter with a side of swordfish. Maybe my expectations are different, or I just like less butter than a normal person, but the sides were unappealing because of how much butter was on them. Desserts were great! And the carrot banana bread soaked in pineapple was life changing. Willing to give the place another try based on our experience with our server though(I believe her name is Allison), her sunny disposition made all...
Read morePretty disappointing meal on a couple of different levels. It became quite obvious pretty early on that the restaurant was ending it's week and was closed for the next two days (this was a Saturday evening, reservation for 8). We started with cocktails, a dirty martini (good) and a watermelon basil chiller (much to heavy on the simple syrup and it needed acid for balance). The bread starter was a carrot and coconut, really moist and delicious. Our appetizers hit at 50%. The meatballs with sauce and ricotta were good and the lemon zest added to the ricotta was a nice touch. Found the ricotta to be cold with two warm components which seemed strange but maybe that was the idea. The German onion had plenty of those but the broth seemed watered down like it was being stretched out to finish the weekend. The first entree was scallops with pappardelle (had run out of raviolis) with a maple nutmeg sauce. The scallops were cooked perfectly but their sweetness combined with a much to sweet sauce made the dish one note and severely lacking acid. The second entree was the Alabama chicken. The statler cut of chicken is the worst possible any restaurant could use but was willing to make an exception because of the other components. The bbq sauce had good flavor but was to thin and there was not enough. The vegetables were delicious. The server was confusing because she had said they no longer had mashed potatoes but could sub out for mac and cheese. She then came back out to say they had enough potatoes and so I could just have both sides, which was fine but they should not have charged us for it. Once again it became apparent the end of the week affected their judgement. Not very impressed and to many other options to try again. Total bill with...
