My 96 year old mom, my adult kids, and I went to Crockett's for an early dinner this last Sunday, and it was great. The selection of liquor was intriguing as there were a lot of brands I hadn't heard of. I love to try new whiskeys, so I was in my element. Asking for a single pour neat, I got a decent amount of whiskey in a very interesting whiskey glass. There were no pour spouts on the top shelf alcohol. Everything was nicely corked off, as it should be. The service was great. Smiles didn't seem forced or fake. The servers seemed like they enjoyed being there. They were very friendly and helpful. I had the sloppy joe with a side salad, and everything was fantastic. The joe had just the right amount of spice to it. Not at all hot, but just a little kick. The salad was no frills, simple and good. Thankfully, there are no nuts in the salad... I hate nuts in salad. Mom had a hot chocolate with whipped cream that hit the spot and warmed her up. Everyone enjoyed their meal and had a great time. The check was more than reasonable at just a little over $120 for the four of us.
The only reason I'm not giving 5 stars was the parking situation. Parking is tight and somewhat limited. The building that shares the parking lot with Crockett's must have missed that life lesson in kindergarten because there's signs all over it that say specifically "No Restaurant Parking, vehicles will be towed." I can tell you this, I don't know who they are in that building, but after making my 96 year old mom walk a good distance to avoid all their available spots with the rude signage, I won't be using their services who ever they are. There are no handicap spots... or, if there were, I didn't see them. Mom had to walk more than a comfortable distance for her and that unfortunately lost Crockett's the 5 star rating I otherwise would have given them, but again, they can put some of that blame on their rude neighbor on the other side of the...
Read moreI was visiting a friend who lives in the area, and she dined here once before. I did not enjoy the experience. We went in for a late Friday lunch, the restaurant and bar area were half full so it was a decent rush. We ordered an appetizer to share, the crispy brussel sprouts were overcooked and burnt. We brought this to our waiters attention and he said that is how they are normally done. That was a disappointing response to an issue with food. We then received our meal, which was splitting sliders and the Thai Chicken Salad (large). The kitchen did split the salad for us which was a nice effort, but that didn’t take away from how bizarre and gross the salad was. The chicken is obviously precooked chicken that was not heated or cooked to order. It was rubbery and bland. The salad had cooked yakisoba noodles, and then uncooked ramen chunks incorporated in. The noodles added nothing, and it wasn’t as though there was a bed of noodles with veggies layered on top, no, it was a few strands tossed in with everything else. I was caught off guard by the uncooked ramen chunks which were in the bottom of my plate, not sprinkled on top “for texture” as the waiter said. Overall the food was abysmal. But, what made it worse was that I brought it to the waiters attention and once again he dismissed our concerns and failed to offer any solutions or rectify the food. He basically shrugged it off with an air of sorry, that’s just how they make it. So we paid full price, despite not eating our appetizer or one of the meals, and left. Puyallup has so many better options than this place. I do not recommend going there if you have any other choice. Not worth the...
Read moreFirst time visiting Crockett's. Probably the last time. Typically, I give restaurants a second chance. This experience broke a couple of rules that rise to a higher level that I can't really forgive.
I ordered fish and chips. The fries were dark brown and dry like leather. It was clear they were leftovers that had been deep fried a second time. The fish, if not the same as the fries, was definitely overcooked. This left the fish dry, flavorless and unpleasant to even look at. The cole slaw did seem fresh though I found it to be very bland, flavorless.
The Pepsi was good.
Our waiter, Kendall, was amazing. When she came to check on us a few minutes after delivering our food, I was very candid with her. The way she handled it was top notch professional and classy. Thank you, Kendall, for listening!
With all respect, they didn't charge us anything. I still dropped a Hamilton on her because it wasn't her fault, and she did the best to handle the situation.
That said, to my first paragraph about how this rose to a higher level and it's unlikely that I will ever give Crockett's that second chance I typically allow others: That plate of food never should have left the kitchen. It was obvious to anyone that something was wrong. The cook never should have placed it on the shelf. The waitstaff should have noticed as well and rejected it - but they may not be empowered to do that.
However, the biggest problem - and I'll allow that there is a very small chance I'm wrong on this (I'm not) but - they took leftover fries, dropped them in the fryer again, and served them to...
