Johns Plain and Fancy was absolutely horrid. If I could rate this 0 stars, i definitely would. Food, service, and the restaurant itself was terrible and nasty. My kids and I went there during Hurricane Sandy, as it was one of the only options available. My son ordered a steak, well done, and when the steak arrived it was raw, cold, yellowish, squishy, and smelly. My daughter ordered spaghetti and meatballs with tomato sauce, but when that arrived it was no better. The pasta was cold and soggy, the tomato sauce was obviously canned and salty and cold, and the meatballs tasted like dog food with no flavor. No dog would even eat those meatballs. When I addressed this issue to the waitress, she had an attitude towards me and kept asking if we wanted it to be re-heated. 2 minutes later, she brought it back and it looked like she dumped it in hot water or microwaved it for too long. When I asked for the manager, I think an owner came and spoke to me. He was extremely rude and surprised that I dared to complain about his food. He offered 20% off of my bill, and I thought he was kidding, but his stern expression said otherwise. There was one other time I went there also, before that experience. I didn't want to go, but my friends and I chose to meet up there for breakfast. I has pancakes that were raw and squishy inside, and the canned orange juice was dissolved into water with little flavor, and the eggs smelled retched. I see some people give high ratings to this place, which is absolutely shocking to me. Those "fantastic" reviews must be written by the people who own this sh**hole. I read in previous reviews that somebody mentioned the salad bar and plates and how it was extremely clean... Come on people, what do you expect... The plates to be dirty? If people are so happy that the plates are clean in the restaurant, that's just crazy because plates should always be clean in a restaurant. Long story short, I'm never coming back to this so called "restaurant" ever again and neither should anyone who wants a...
Read moreWhat happened?? I feel like maybe they've switched owners or managers?? I can't think of any other reason for the dining experience I had today. I've eaten here before, & never had any major problems so I was truly surprised at how disappointed I was w my meal. I ordered the fried scallops platter, & everyone knows it's not a cheap meal, so you expect to get what you're paying for. But when my plate came out, I couldn't help but notice how strange they looked... But I thought I at least have to try one because they might taste really good. I had trouble even cutting one in half because they were so tough. That and they just looked like shredded fish inside. Not at all smooth like a scallop should be. I tried to eat it but could hardly even chew it, it tasted nothing like a scallop, & tasted like really strong cheap fish, I couldn't even begin to guess what kind... I was offered a replacement so I just picked flounder because I figured that was simple enough & would hopefully taste good. I ate half of it, it was dry and very bland, & I'm doubtful it was even flounder. Maybe tilapia, I don't know. But nothing annoys me more then ordering something special when eating out, only to be served a "substitute" by a greedy manager who thought no one would notice. Well you were wrong, I did notice, & you should be ashamed of yourself for trying to be so sneaky. Anyhow the waitress was great despite the situation she was put in. But it's hardly her fault after all. But I can honestly say that the more I think about how unpleasant my meal turned out to be, I will not be eating here anytime...
Read moreWhere do I even begin, as a group we decided to try a new Diner in the area, upon arrival it appeared to have a normal diner feel.... That was up until we were shown to the rear of the building lol... Something out of what appeared to be ballroom like... The waiter sat us down to clearly what looked like the dirtiest table on the planet. We then proceeded to wipe down our own table top which from the looks of our wipe we used it was confirmed the table was actually as dirty as it looked. Showed the waiter and he just laughed and said yeah I never wiped that down.. Ok so some time goes by we place our order and continue in conversation with friends of ours.. Meals arrive and right out the gate we all could agree the visuals weren't pleasing whatsoever, but hunger pushes us through it... Right up until my wife locates two long course black hairs in the hash browns🤮. No one at the table has jet black hair btw... We again show the waiter and he just laughs and said to us, "(laughter), let me get you another hash brown" lol. Yeah not happening bro, we then asked him if you had that in your meal would you want anything else from that kitchen? He replied, " no, I guess I wouldn't want to either". No that I witnessed the gangly black course hairs in my wife's meal I lost any appetite that I had at that moment and quit eating. Moral of the story here is your safer hitting up McDonald's then visiting this joint. Really your safer...
