The only reason I’m not giving 1 star is I still really like the food here.
Now coming to why I am giving a low rating, I was thoroughly disappointed with the service I got yesterday night by our server, Andrew.
To start of, he messed up our wings order three times. Since it was moderately busy, I let this go still. What’s worse is he would never come back to refill our waters. My wife asked him to take the dirty plates away, he responded ‘1 sec’, went to another table and ignored us again and started talking to the table behind us. On another occasion, he did the same thing. We asked for silverware and napkins. He said he’ll be back. Then he came out of the kitchen, ignored us and went to two other tables to ask how they were doing. It was extremely disrespectful and I’m not sure if this service was a result of simple incompetence or discrimination since he was attentive to all other tables except us.
Every other time I’ve been here, never had a single issue with any server. I sincerely hope that management ensures this doesn’t happen again to any other customer because I love the pizza here.
UPDATE**
After leaving a 2 star review on poor service, I was immediately contacted by the manager from this location. She sincerely apologized and sent a gift card for another opportunity. I really appreciate when a business owns up to their mistake and makes amends. The free meal doesn’t matter but the fact that they accepted their mistake and took immediate action speaks great...
Read moreIf you’re looking for authentic Italian food, look elsewhere because Oregano’s isn’t it! However, if you’re open towards Italian cuisine with a heavy Mexican twist, you will feel right at home here.
If you’re like me, a foodie who has also worked and managed extensively in the restaurant, fine dining and hospitality world, and, as someone who likes going on culinary adventures, you would be intrigued by a different kind of menu, as much as I was when I first ate at Oregano’s.
As a New Yorker of European descent, having grown up with authentic Italian cuisine, Oregano’s menu items and flavour profile surprised me. The portions are certainly huge and the dishes are packed with flavour, albeit Mexican flavour, paired with fundamental basics of Italian cuisine, such as the use of pasta and bread.
While I prefer authentic Italian cuisine, there is nevertheless one reason why I keep returning to this cute, vintage, 1950s themed restaurant with beautiful old school music playing in the background:
SERVICE!
The latter amazed me because of one young man, a host, named Mason, which is why I returned and continue to return to this particular location of Oregano’s in Queen Creek.
I realize my review is detailed with my take on this restaurant’s menu.
Thus, read above / on for the second part of my review in which I elaborate upon Oregano’s service in...
Read moreWe have always gone to the Oregano’s in Gilbert and everything has been near perfect there, so we tried our local Bistro on Saturday night for a pickup order pizza. When I got there the place was packed, so they must be doing something right! I checked in and the cashier said it would be a 5-10 minute wait...I was early, so I knew there would be a wait. I had a nice conversation with another couple waiting for a table that made the wait go quickly. When the pizza and wings came out the cashier showed me the pizza and it appeared a bit burnt on the edge, but we kinda like a toasted thin crust pizza. Other than that all looked well! I drove the 5 minutes home and my wife and I began to serve out our portions. Immediately I noticed the middle 10 inches of the pizza crust was barely cooked. We ate pieces from the outer edge and that part had good flavor. The wings were fully cooked but not over done, we got the medium hot ones, but they were truly more mild...the blue cheese dressing was fabulous! Nice big chunks of cheese and a nice creamy dressing. We will eat in there another time because as I said, they were packed busy when I got there so they must be doing something right, it just wasn’t our...
