Read moreThis was our first time trying The Fowler House Cafe. We arrived at 4:00 on a Saturday the restaurant was not that busy. We waited for about 10 minutes before our sever arrived (Stella) she asked what we wanted for a drink, I had the Angry Orchard, and My wife wanted the Strawberry Margarrita. Our sever said we don't have Strawberry Margarritas, so my wife asked what do you have, our sever replied I don't drink alcohol so pick something. Our server said wait I will be right back. 10 minutes passed, and she came back. we now have Strawberry Margarritas, but it's made with syrup. We placed our order one Fowler House pizza a salad and nachos. The pizza tasted like it was frozen. The nachos. The cheese was hard. When you picked one nacho up, you had 25 stuck together. Our sever came by once to pick up the plates, and my wife told her her Margarrita tasted like there was no alcohol in it. Our server (Stella) became very angry at us from that point on. She reached over the table, no excuse me or I'm sorry she just said I will take that no drink for you. Left her with nothing to drink. Our sever came back and angrily said in the future tell me this before you drink your drink. Our server said she would take care of the drink, but in the future, don't ever do that again when you come here. (There won't be a future in there. ) The manager would watch us from a distance but never come to the table. We were never offered a dessert or coffee. The check was slammed on the table, like get out. I approached the manager and told her what happened, but it fell on deaf ears. She said she would tell the owners. Well, you live and learn. Never again. Oh, one more thing to Stella lay off the perfume our food...
Read moreMy wife and I came into Fowler House on New Year's Day, and chose this restaurant out of the many in Quincy for several reasons, among them the variety of food offered on the menu.
Man, did the food deliver on its promise! We aren't usually the sort of people who take pictures of their meals, but it was merited in this instance. Every aspect of the meal was utterly delicious, and the portions were beyond generous.
I had Rizzo's Italian Platter, my wife the Seafood Bake, and we split Buffalo Tenders and the Spinach Dip. I cannot compliment all of it more highly.
The tenders were huge and perfectly breaded and sauced. spinach dip is always good when it's good, and the two main courses were top-notch. I ended up getting through pathetically little of mine (but I ate great when I got home). My wife did much better with the Seafood Bake, and there were still leftovers. I have no idea how they make it so good, but the sauce in the bake is one the most delectable things I've ever tasted.
We had to give a mandatory deduction of one star because we waited over 15 minutes to meet our waitperson. While it was New Year's Day, which could make a difference, there were empty tables, and we had to flag down a manager before the server finally came over. To be very nitpicky, we also thought the lighting at the table was a bit harsh.
Everything else was great! Our server was very personable and attentive, the atmosphere was such that one could dress up or go in t-shirt and jeans and be comfortable. And really, the food was phenomenal.
Highly...
