Disappointed..Trying to support local business but what a weird experience! Girl answering the phone knew very little, didn't know prices. They don't have a website, couldn't find a menu anywhere on Facebook, girl said it's on Instagram. Sorry, many people my age don't do instagram. She said they had the lamb that was pictured on the website, so I ordered that. A minute later she called back and said it would be longer than she first said. She brought the food to our car, was going to leave without us paying for it. So we gave her a credit card-the owner came out to say hello and was very nice. She said the menu is buried somewhere in the pictures on Facebook and on Grubhub. The menus on grubhub and yelp are often not updated so we usually go to the website or Facebook for accuracy. Waited, and waited, the girl never came back with our credit card! My husband finally went inside, the girl was on the phone for a personal call. The owner had to tell her to stop talking and ring up our bill Then she said she may have rung it twice. Lastly-got home and my lamb dish was NOT what was pictured on the website, it was sooooo hot, I could not eat it. I have had Pakistani food that was delicious and nowhere near this hot (I am not a real spicy food person). If there was a menu I could have read the ingredients and heat level and saved the $15. Nice owner, I wish her well. But the girl will stop me from visiting this restaurant for quite some time. I will not eat the lamb-could have supported another restaurant during this...
Read moreI was visiting Racine and decided to venture into the city to try something new for dinner, and the reviews for this place DID NOT disappoint! Immediately upon walking in, the atmosphere was so warm and inviting: the vivid, bold colors of the fabric that adorned the walls and flashes of gold from the fairy lights gave a very comforting environment. The food, of course, was every bit as incredible as the interior decorating. Starting off with the iced green tea was the perfect choice, and it actually reminded me very much of tea I’ve had in the Middle East. The whole place actually gave me that vibe! We tried the chicken tikka, falafel, and anda roti. Warning: if you try the anda roti, it is HOT! It reminded me of the Harry Potter quote: “you’re going to suffer, but you’re going to be happy about it”. Worth. Every. Bit. The falafel was a beautiful combination of flavors, so was the chicken tikka, and the extra sauce was perfect for dipping the GIANT homemade naan in (whose aroma practically filled the restaurant with mouth watering smells). The yogurt had a zesty flavor as well that paired perfectly with the spice. It was an amazing location with a beautiful feeling and it left me feeling satisfied...
Read moreI have been waiting for a good Pakistani restaurant in Racine and I am sad it took me this long to get over to Chit Chaat to try it out.
Food 10/10 (Chicken Tikka Masala and Iced Chai) Service 10/10
My first visit wasn't without problems but to me (with many years working in restaurants myself) its how those problems are responded to that says a lot about a place. I arrived after ordering online to pick up my food and the order was not ready due to a misunderstanding and technical issue. The staff acknowledge the mistake immediately and worked to rectify the issue. Everything was explained up front and honestly and that alone would make me give this place a second try.
I got my food (take out) and settled to eat when I arrived back to my office. The food was flavorful and had great heat. The Roti and rice were exactly what I had hoped for.
I hope that Chit Chaat stays around for a long time and can't wait to go back and have more food. Thank you...
