The food is straight up nasty. The grits have some kind of seasoning in it like crab seasoning. I asked for basic grits with salt, pepper, butter and cheese. It has some strong garlic butter taste to it. And someone dumped all this paprika and cayenne on it. It's super spicey. Where they do that at? Im guessing they make one big pot of grits they way they want you to eat it but they need to stop playing. It's nasty. Sausage was a cheap brand. I know because I purchased this brand. Will never forget the taste. The omelette was dry. Bit into a eggshell. No cheese in it. The biscuits was so dry. I choked on my first bite. I should have just cooked myself for real. I'm from Philly and we do breakfast the right way. This was just wrong all the way around. I called them and nobody answered. It's 11am and theyre supposed to close at 2. Never again. I be wanting to support black folks but this threw me for a loop. Even if it was free I dont ever want anything from there ever again in life. They need to just throw the whole restaurant in the trash and start over like I did with their food. Also please give us the option of zero stars. This is a zero stars kind of moment. And if you say the food is super good, I know for a fact that your mom, grandmom, great grandmom and you personally can't cook....
Read moreSimple fare prepared with excellent ingredients and by an awesome chef. Let's start with the simple hash browns. At other places, they're either mushy and soft or dry and over cooked. The ones at Mrs Betty's are perfect. Brown and a little bit caramelized but moist and tender. I like my eggs Sunny side up. Very easy to screw up. There is a very fine line between undercooked and overcooked. Again, Mrs Betty's nails it. The white is all cooked but the yolk is smooth, runny, and delicious. Next, and best, the meats. I've had the Pork chops and the ham. I think I read that they are locally sourced and I know that they are expertly prepared. Both pork chops and ham can easily be served dry and overcooked. Once again, at Mrs Betty's, they are cut-with-a-fork tender, perfectly cooked and flavourful. My wife adores the grits. They are creamy and soft and served with a dusting of spice on top. The server made us both feel at home and comfortable without being overwhelming. Oh, and the coffee is great too. This little, family owned place...
Read moreI found this place by accident and I can say after eating right off the back the cook isn't just a guy who's hired to cook, but someone who knows how to cook very well has culinary experience. everything is fresh, with exception of fries but finding a place to not have store bought fries these days is pretty hard to find even at high end establishments. the steak was very delicious didn't need anything added to it, and the pancakes and just about everything was very home style which is what I'll love to pay for in terms of quality and comfort breakfast food. the pancakes are a total must if you can't decide, you'll want two or more because they're very delicious and done thin and wide, crispy edges with a great vanilla essence to them, I'll also recommend the biscuits they are freshly made not store bought and thawed like most places around have. I'll come back here for the quality and comfort of this food again very simple and fresh and to the point, and most...
