Casa Restaurant & Rum Bar — Restaurant in Raleigh

I hate to post a mediocre review for a local restaurant but I think they have a lot of room for improvement.

We were there on a Saturday night around 8 pm.

Food:

The quantity was great.

The quality was lacking. I ordered la casa chicken sandwich. The chicken was overcooked and lacked flavours. Bread was surprisingly good.

My wife orderd Palomilla steak. The rice was dry and the steak was very overcooked. It was sad to waste this food.

My wife also ordered a Tequila Sunrise cocktail which was good.

Service:

It was alright. We felt a bit neglected but I think they had fewer people working.

We did have to wait a long time for food which would have been fine if it reflected the quality of food.

The server did ask if our food was ok and we were not brave enough to send the food back. We just said yes and left.

Ambience:

The restaurant is pretty and we liked the decor. Plenty of space and parking.

The night we came they were playing very loud music which would have been fine if the restaurant had plenty of people but that wasn't the case. It felt the music was for the enjoyment of DJ himself.

We did see the DJ smoking hookah outside, so the other review was true.

From the moment we walked into Casa Restaurant & Rum Bar on Forest Pines Drive, we were greeted with warmth and genuine hospitality—especially by Monica “La Mejor”, who truly lives up to the name! Her bubbly, positive energy was contagious and made us feel welcomed right away.

The atmosphere was vibrant and alive with rich Latino music from various regions, creating a festive and authentic vibe that made the night even more enjoyable.

Let’s talk about the drinks—the Tequila Sunrise was absolutely phenomenal, and the mojito was perfectly balanced—refreshing, smooth, and just right!

For dinner, I had the chimichurri steak in chimichurri sauce—mouthwatering and cooked to perfection.

Monica consistently checked in on us without being intrusive, and her inviting personality added so much to our dining experience. It’s rare to find service that leaves a lasting impression, but Monica did just that.
