Snoopy's has changed a lot since I first started coming here back in 2006/2007. What's changed is that they no longer serve ice-cream floats, and a root beer float was my favorite. I suspect they've changed the hot dogs, too, because nowadays, the topping easily overpower the flavor of the hot dog. I always order the beef hot dog (extra cost) while my son orders the pork hot dogs. He usually orders it with mustard, chili, and peppers. I order mine with ketchup, mustard, and relish. So, it seems to me, the hot dog has become just another filler, and not a very memorable one at that.

But the fries, those crinkle-cut fries! They are always perfectly cooked and salted, and very hot. I wish they would offer a large size because I would purchase them in a heartbeat. These alone make this locale a standout from the crowd.

The drinks are always bubbly and delicious, never flat or too watery.

The staff is friendly and very efficient.

The food is prepared while you wait, but even if it seems a tad longer than other fast food joints, it's well worth the wait.

But given that the hot dogs are nothing special, I've backed off on how much I visit Snoopy's. Instead, I've found that Five Guys offers a top-of-the-line hot dog and now go there, instead....

Snoopy's is a staple and worth a visit just for that. It, along with Char Grill are rights of passage for every high school and college kid growing up in Raleigh. Sad the downtown location closed. That said, other than Tuesdays when they have their 2 hotdog deal, it isn't worth over $9 for 2 dogs, fries and a drink. And I know many Southerners grew up with those horrible, pink-died, mushy, Brightleaf? Hot dogs. They call them "Eastern North Carolina" style. Think tubular Balogna. They don't taste bad, they are just carriers for Snoopy's mustard chili and onions (the standard way unless you say otherwise). They have cheeseburgers and Eastern NC style barbecue, both good. And if you love perfectly cooked crinkle cut fries and chewy ice, then this is your place. Keep in mind that this has always been a window service establishment, so you will be eating in your car or taking it to a...

It use to be great old owner's but not now ..chicken salad use to taste homemade, and good whole wheat bread and refills in ur original cup...and people who were nice, but ole boy now... chicken salad taste like all white meat out of a can, whole wheat bread to me taste about as white as Sunbeam white bread with seeds that get in ur teeth and gums. .it taste very white, soft and sugary. Service horrible,I go to window with it open.girl sits there and counts money like 5 minutes and doesn't say,I'll be right with you or nothing...call out when done mumbled and quick handoff like here take it attitudes, when I get refill of course they take another cup put tea in it to give to u for refill no ice .it's costly and destroying landfill with plastic..they can't just pour u more tea...into ur nice cup we have already,.prices high and hrs of operations way to short..tea...

from Raleigh, so this would have been my 1st time eating here. I went to the window to ask was the hot dogs 100% beef because I DO NOT EAT PORK. The guy at the window was polite and he attempted to answer my question by asking the manager but this other hood black chic jumps in the convo saying they maybe chicken and pork and I don't know what else she was about to say but I told her I have the right to know for health reasons and more.. I let her know this.. The manager was standing there listening and watching.. Smh.. Well, that's breaking the law in so many ways..If I eat pork and have some type of reaction then what.. I have the right to nutritional information.. The OWNERS SHOULD NOT HAVE THESE TYPES OF PEOPLE JUST THERE STANDING AROUND TALKING MANAGER INCLUDED RUNNING OF CUSTOMERS WITH THEIR UNPROFESSIONAL ATTITUDES! I WILL NOT EVEN ATTEMPT TO COME BACK!

I was surprised to learn this place has been around for 40 years, because my first visit didn’t leave a great impression. I stopped by to grab a hot dog “all the way” for a family member’s birthday. Fortunately, we stayed in the parking lot—because it turned out “all the way” doesn’t include coleslaw, which I wasn’t aware of. When I asked about it, the staff member pointed to a sign and said it would be an extra 32 cents, but the tone came off as abrupt and dismissive. A simple, polite explanation would’ve gone a long way. I don’t eat fast food often, and this experience reminded me why. While the food may have its fans, better customer service would make a big difference.

I've been told several times to check out Snoopy's as they have the "best" chili hot dogs in Raleigh. Aftee checking them out I wouldn't say that theirs is the best, but it is okay. It reminds me of when you take canned chili and add a few onions to it. Nothing memorable and returnable. Three stars for the customer service as the staff member made my dog incorrectly, so they gave me that one on the house and got me a new one for no fuss or charge. I just wish the food was better.
