Nestled in the heart of Raleigh, Vic’s offers an enchanting dining experience that transports you straight to Italy with every bite. From the moment you walk through the charming arched doorway, the warm ambiance and inviting aromas wrap around you like a cozy embrace.
Atmosphere: The decor is a delightful blend of rustic and contemporary elements, featuring exposed brick walls adorned with vintage Italian posters, soft lighting, and intimate seating arrangements. Whether you’re on a romantic date or enjoying a meal with friends, the atmosphere is perfectly balanced—lively yet intimate.
Service: The service at Vic’s is exceptional. Our server (Bennett)was attentive without being intrusive, offering helpful recommendations from the menu and ensuring our glasses were never empty. The staff's genuine enthusiasm for the food truly enhanced our dining experience.
Food: As for the menu, it’s a culinary journey through Italy. We started with the Bruschetta al Pomodoro, which featured fresh tomatoes, basil, and a drizzle of balsamic glaze on perfectly toasted bread. It was a refreshing appetizer that set the tone for the meal.
For the main course, I opted for the classic Lasagna , and it was hands down one of the best I’ve ever tasted. The layers of pasta were generous, and the rich, hearty meat sauce was complemented by creamy béchamel and a blend of cheeses that created a comforting harmony of flavors. My dining companion chose the Gnocchi , which was equally impressive—light, fluffy gnocchi topped with a zesty tomato sauce and melted mozzarella that made every bite a delight.
We couldn’t resist trying dessert, and the Tiramisu was the perfect ending to our meal. It was light, creamy, and had just the right balance of coffee flavor—not overly sweet, but decadently rich.
Value: While prices are on the higher end of the spectrum, the quality of the ingredients and the artistry in each dish justify the cost. The generous portion sizes also ensure that you leave satisfied.
Overall Vic’s is a true gem in Raleigh’s dining scene. Whether you’re seeking a cozy dinner for two or a lively gathering with friends, this restaurant delivers on all fronts. With its authentic cuisine, welcoming atmosphere, and attentive service, Bella Notte is definitely a place I’ll return to again and again. Highly recommended for anyone craving a taste of Italy right here in the...
Read moreA few days ago I wanted to take my grandparents out for lunch; sounds simple enough, but as someone who has worked in food/service I dread taking them anywhere, as they are VERY difficult customers. They can be impatient, rude, and are definitely part of a generation that expects the same service/portions/quality of food for what they paid for it in the 50's. When we got to Vic's, there was apparently one server on staff (I later learned his name is Bennett). There was already a hefty rush of lunch diners, all to be served by him, so I was prepared to wait a few minutes to be served; my grandparents were not, and snapped at Bennett to get us water/menus after only 5 minutes. When we were ready to order I asked Bennett what he recommends for a mushroom lovers, as my grandmother craves them often but is always so fixated on catering to her irascible husband (who hates mushrooms and is very cheap/miserly despite being financially comfortable) that whenever they go out to eat she insists on ordering one entree he would like and splitting it. Bennett recommended the portobello alla baggio appetizer, and for me, a vegetarian, allowed me to get the penne vodka with broccoli subbed in. Grammie ordered the new yorker pizza for her and my grandfather. Bennett was so incredibly patient with them, despite bearing the pressure of serving all the guests in the restaurant during the busy lunch rush. When the food came out, everything was perfect; the portobello was delicious and exactly what I wanted for her; the garlic knots were the best I've had at to date, plenty of savory fresh garlic all over. My pasta was exactly what I wanted, and now I have a new preferred Italian restaurant to go to for it. Mt grandparents put him through the ringer in more than a few ways this trip; he remained calm and treated them with truly impressive generosity. Our food was top tier, the restaurant is cozy and scenic, and the staff amazed me with how they handled such a rush of customers with only kitchen staff and one waiter. Even if the service had been abysmal I would return for those garlic knots without a second thought. Thank...
Read moreI had high hopes for a decent lunch the ambience was dated but I don’t mind that it was on a Cooble stone street- Italian space looks like it’s been there for quite some time I sat down asked the server to get advice on the menu I was going to order via her suggestion
I really just wanted to try their signature dish whatever that may be the server didn’t really have any suggestions for me so I decided to order the clams try their marinara sauce keep it simple comes with some garlic knots
Dish came out with a pool of oil on top of basically tomato purée eight little neck clams with the food cost of $.30 each garlic knots product from definitely not the day of could’ve been two days old or out of the freezer was it not warm stale dense hard bread, that and two coronas came to 26 bucks left a tip and on my way out decided to give the owner my key my review I’d rather tell him then just go on social media because I myself work in the food industry
If I did not bake bread every single day maybe I wouldn’t know the difference but I do if I didn’t prepare food for people every single day maybe I wouldn’t know the difference but I do
It’s our jobs as culinary professionals to hold each other to high standards it’s our job to let others know when their menu is falling shorts when their service is falling short when their cleanliness is falling short people will come back over and over because of loyalty and that’s great but when you’re in establishment you should have people coming in your doors over and over again because of the quality of the product that you put out and because they can get a value out of the price that you put on your menu the owner of the restaurant had stated to me that if I were truly a chef I would not be complaining I complain because I want to see you do better I complain because I care about our industry I complain because I want you to do better for...
