Yesterday, after a hasty retreat from the rude and unaccommodating staff of a Korean grill (whose name will not be mentioned here), my wife suggested nearby Gen Korean BBQ House on Foothill Blvd, Rancho Cucamonga. That led to the discovery of a new favorite dining spot. Situated in an area with ample parking, the venue sports a classy, welcoming, and kid-friendly ambiance. Marvin the maître d' recommended the premium menu, and he’s right - that’s the way to go. (There is a photo of the premium menu on Gen’s Instagram page if you need more convincing). As far as the food goes, the ribeye and the marinated long bone short rib steak are both show-stoppers, but the carne asada is the hands-down favorite with its melt-in-your-mouth tenderness. Meanwhile, the wagyu, the short rib, the Cajun shrimp and the pollo asado are also delicious but came across as underwhelming after you’ve had your fill of the steak and the carne asada. Finally, what clinches the pleasant dining experience is staff courtesy and professionalism, and the staff here are experts in that regard.

Willing to change review. Disappointed! Was expecting an EXPERIENCE because of the way the restaurant lighting and design was; but after sitting down it was... much to be desired. Rice wasn't soft and fluffy. Hair in food... Paid over $100 but the portions were so small that we were still hungry after. It was fun cooking our own food, but I'm curious how they earned an A when it's obvious someone didn't wear a hairnet when handling the raw meat... Random puddles on floors. HOT - might have no A/C...? (Granted it was 114 degrees outside; maybe their A/C went out...?) Servers were polite but we only saw our waiter/waitress once - then 2 others randomly helped. They all seemed to be running everywhere like they had WAY too many tables (but the restaurant was not full, half the chairs were up still). Are they getting overworked? Are there not enough employees? One of them was very FAST to replace our cooking tray, with a clean one, when there was some burnt pieces on it - very helpful.

Gen Korean BBQ House in Rancho Cucamonga is definitely the best Korean BBQ restaurant in town. Despite the crowds, which can lead to a slight wait upon arrival, the ambience of this place is truly fantastic. The service is top-notch, with attentive staff who make sure you have a great dining experience every time you visit. I've been to Gen Korean BBQ House a few times now, and I have to say, the food is outstanding. It truly is an all-you-can-eat feast in just two hours, with a wide variety of meats and side dishes like calamari and shrimp that are simply delicious. The meats are always fresh, and the salad and rice options are also unlimited. While the prices may be on the higher side, I believe that the quality of food and service you receive at Gen Korean BBQ House make it well worth it. This place is a must-visit for all Korean BBQ lovers out there. Trust me, you won't be disappointed with your meal at Gen Korean BBQ House.

DISCLAIMER: NOT ENOUGH WORD COUNT TO COVER THE WHOLE STORY ON GOOGLE REVIEWS Let me start by saying this, I hope no one gets fired from their job nor bullied for what happened to my friend and I here. I have never given 0 tip before today. I understand the food service world is stressful and backlogged to no end, but sometimes you have to draw a line when you get treated the way we did.

My friend and I decide to go after work to eat here. It was my first time trying Gen KBBQ and he said it was a good place like the other ones we usually go to. I wait in line and get a waiting number, about 15 minutes no big deal. 15 minutes pass and suddenly on the yelp app, I go from 2nd party in line to 7th. At first I think that's fine, they must've had a error or something and it's 6pm on a Saturday. I should've known it was a red flag when we came in and they said that they gave our table to someone else and we either wait longer or go to the Bar. Honestly, I didn't see a difference if we were eating all-you-can-eat, so we decided to choose the bar. I found it weird that when we were seated, there was no menu given, but hey there were bartenders so one of them must be taking orders. My friend takes a call and leaves for about 5-7 minutes while I'm just sitting there waiting to order. It doesn't hit me until I realize that once he gets back from that call, we still don't have a menu. My friend is able to wave someone down that turns out to be the hostess/manager? They get our menu from the front desk (Now that I think about it, this implies that there wasn't anyone designated to serve our party). I didn't think anything of it at the time because you know, it's Saturday night rush at a popular dinery. So we finally get our menu and it takes maybe 5ish minutes before someone even talks to us to order our food. The guy that takes our order said it was his first week, so I didn't hold anything against him for not knowing off the bat what we wanted/ordered. The first batch we ordered took the standard amount of time, I didn't think anything of it as bad service. It was when we tried to order our second batch of food. We noticed that the bartender/waiter was swamped with checks near the front. Keep in mind, I think he did an AMAZING job for something he shouldn't be in charge of to begin with. He was a bartender, not a waiter. We managed to get his attention and order from the menu. From here is where things start going wrong.

My friend and I are sitting there just chatting, noticing how busy the place is at the moment. It wasn't until another bartender walks up to us and asks if we wanted the grill off and our check that made us question the time we were waiting for a second batch of food. When it gets here, some of it is cold, and two orders weren't even there. We sat and just talked about how long it was taking jokingly. But jokes turned to genuine anger the moment we tried to order our third batch of food. I can wholeheartedly say, with no exaggeration, that we waited about 25 minutes for someone to even ask if we ordered anything. The side eyes we got from the bartenders was astounding, granted we were starting to talk passive aggressive loudly about our whole ordeal. Near the end of the 25 minute wait it hit me, this place wasn't busy at all. The entire bar was empty besides my friend and I. Keep in mind ALL the chairs were filled at the start. Normally that wouldn't set anything off for me, but there were at least 5-6 bartenders just standing there doing NOTHING. Heck, even the manager/hostess just grabbed a drink for herself knowing we didn't get our order. Once I was able to flag her down later when she was serving food, I asked if we could get the check with our third batch since I just lost my appetite at this point. But, before I could even finish my sentence, she cuts me off and asks if they can turn off my grill to stop if from burning. So they douse our grill, and funny enough, they don't...

Had the worst birthday meal of my life at this place. The service was horrible! Someone dropped a bowl of rice at our table just as we sat down. Didn't have silverware or menus yet. Took several minutes for the waitress to bring one menu for us to share. It didn't have the dinner page in it. We waited and waited for her to come back so we could get another menu with all the pages in it but she didn't come back for a long time so we had to Google the menu. She said she'd bring us another menu eventually but never did. We ordered an appetizer, soup, noodles, steak, chicken, and vegetables. The appetizer, steak, chicken, and veggies came fairly quickly and we cooked them on the grill in the table. We did not have any silverware though and we asked a few times for some. They give you tongs and scissors, but the steak was thick and we couldn't cut it with the scissors. Eventually we were given two packs of plastic silverware, which wouldn't work on the steak. We could see the table next to us had metal silverware and we asked can we please have a knife for the steak and the response was on a night like this you're lucky you got anything. We still didn't have our soup or noodles and the steak was unseasoned, we asked where is the other food and can we please have some sauce for the steak? We were told to use the sauce from our appetizer on the steak, but we'd already used it and there wasn't much left. I said I see all the other tables around us have nice trays of different sauces can we have one? They said someone would bring some but it never came. All the food got cold while we were waiting for sauce, silverware, and our soup and noodles. I finally told the waitress this is ridiculous, it's my birthday and this meal is ruined. Who gives you soup at the end of a meal? Plus all is the other things that were wrong. I asked for a to go box which I guess is a no no because it's all you can eat. She said in light of the situation she would let us have one. While she was getting it, the noodles finally came, but still no soup. We had finished packing the box and someone brought soup to the table but it wasn't even the one we ordered. As we were trying to leave a man started hassling us about the box. My husband told him we couldn't cut the steak and weren't able to eat it there we asked so many times for something to cut it with and got told we were lucky to get anything on a night like this, so he said well I'm just going to pretend I didn't see the box and walk away. It was horrible. I hope the management sees this and I'd like to say thanks for ruining my birthday dinner, there's a night I'll never get back. I would not recommend this...

The food is absolutely excellent however the customer service is really lacking. The management is not much better. They need to really step up their game on their professionalism and, rendering customer service.

Are they on the list at 1:00 today, a group came in after us and put their name on the list. We were told 45 minutes to an hour. They seated the group that came in afterwards before us. When I address the hostess after she finally showed up, and she was missing most of the time she had the nerve to tell me they came in before us. I told her they did not. She didn't apologize, and she didn't even seem concerned. I asked for a manager and she had the nurses told me she was one of the managers. I told her you can't possibly be the manager cuz you're not running this way I want a manager. But she brought me a manager. I complained to that manager. That man just seemed to not even care, and backed her up.

Our server was probably 70% good. 30% bad. He brought our drinks way He brought our rights. He brought out all our sides, and hardly any napkins. We had to ask for napkins twice.

He never came back for the longest time to ask us to be wanting anything else. Then we finally had to ask another waitress for more rice. Then he finally came back and he the service improved. It was really hot in there and my friend was totally uncomfortable. They need to turn the air up.

The shrimp and food is absolutely delicious. However, the shrimp comes with the shell on, not deveined, and the heads on. Totally did not like that at all.

Although the food is excellent, the customer service for the waiter tonight was not bad but not great either. But the lady at the front desk has a horrible attitude, and terrible customer service and she claims to be a manager. And the other manager is even worse, because neither one of them apologize for the inconvenience and they didn't seem to care.

The carpet needed to be cleaned. They forgot to bring my friend's pork, we had to look for someone. They are seriously short staffed. We asked for more rice, they took forever to bring it. They only brought rice for two people and they were four of us in our party.

Also, at least ten people had on no masks!;. The restaurant managers said nothing!

Although the food is excellent, the service is seriously lacking. And the managerial team really sucks. Going to find another place that's hopefully as good. Somebody on another review on this page...
