Another pandemic disaster...this place used to be great. I'm not even sure why I'm giving it 2 stars. Based on the signature dish, ramen, it deserves one star, but the service was decent. The ramen, not so much. First off, raw spinach in the tonkatsu gives it a bitter flavor. How a chef cannot taste the bitterness is beyond me. I've never had spinach in ramen before and it doesn't blend well with the broth. They should go back to something more traditional, like bamboo shoots or narutomaki. Pork belly chashu is the advertised protein, but they're using katarosu, a mix of the fatty part and pork shoulder. A cheaper cut than the pork belly, which is chewier and not as soft and tender as pork belly. Maybe they should try braising/smoking it for more flavor. Zero umami in the bowl. The broth had a slight tomatoey taste, with spicy paste added, it tasted nothing like ramen broths I've had in the past. On to the marinated egg, hard boiled and bland. Their menu pictures show a soft-boiled egg, but that's not what they're dishing up. $1 more for spicy and $2 more for 2 pieces of pork, instead of one, the bowl of ramen came to $16. This place definitely changed ownership in the last few years and has gone...
Read moreLove this ramen spot! My husband and I are big ramen fans so as soon as this place opened up I basically dragged him the first chance we got.
Pictured is the garlic ramen, gyoza, their green tea which is sold by the pitcher only, and their tiramisu. The gyoza and tiramisu are out of this world! I would go for those two things alone. The gyoza comes out fresh, hot, and packed full of flavor. The tiramisu which is matcha I believe is light, airy, and SO delicious.
On to the ramen! I can't pronounce or spell either of the ones I've tried so far but I've ordered a garlic one and a pork one. Both delish! If you're a fan of spice you can ask for it to come on the side to where you control how hot it is. When I did get the garlic ramen they did forget the meat but as soon as he waitress was notified she brought some back to me in less than 2 minutes. I've also tried a little of my husbands spicy beef ramen, also very tasteful! Just enough spice to give it a little kick but not overpowering.
Overall, great place to eat. Have already been back twice and loved just as much as the first! Don't skip out on the gyoza...
Read moreI ate here before and thought outside was a nice spot to study and wait for work since I do food delivery in the area. I came back another day and even asked the owner if I could sit out side and study and wait for work and he said yeah. Then one day he changed his mind and started telling me I can't get free water and a couple days later said I can't sit there anymore. I don't know why he had the change of heart especially since I wasn't there everyday but I didn't like how unwelcome he made me feel after I had asked permission and he said yes in the first place. All the times I've been there it's nobody but me outside but he claims it's our only table when there was two others right behind me. If the restaurant was full all the time I'd understand but it's not the case when I come.
All the staff is nice and great but the owner is not as accommodating.
Outside of all that the quality of the meat isn't so good in the ramen I had and the broth was 3 out of 5.
Wasn't going to say anything but I have the right to be honest just like he has the right to...
