Finally, a great Mexican-American culinary experience in Rancho Cucamonga!
My wife and I tried this place on a whim on a sleepy Wednesday morning and were immediately greeted with beautiful colors, decor, and heritage on the walls. I was very impressed with how lovely everything went together. It was instantly "Instagrammable" but also had a warm, homey feeling.
My wife ordered a Spanish latte, the salmon eggs Benedict, and I ordered the chilaquiles. I was very surprised when our orders arrived, that they were not only quick, but also very beautifully plated! The old adage of, "You eat with your eyes," rang true. The chefs in the back knew what they were doing by using watermelon radish on the eggs Benedict, and searing the steak on the chilaquiles perfectly with distinguishable grill lines.
The sauce on the chilaquiles had a beautiful deep flavor with a nice, but not overwhelming kick to it. The steak was cooked perfectly. I judge a place by their refried beans as that is something that is often an afterthought, but this place NAILED them. They tasted like my mom was in the back cooking them up!
The salmon eggs Benedict were cooked perfectly, and had an amazingly creamy finish. My wife and I couldn't stop eating off of each other's plates.
I was so impressed by the whole meal, and thankful that a place like this had opened in Rancho, that I asked to speak to the owner. I couldn't stop telling Jorge about how wonderful the food and decor was. You can tell that he put great care and thought into everything. He told me he went to culinary school (it showed) and that his family had done the decor and construction!
This is the sort of place that is needed in Rancho Cucamonga. Not a corporate restaurant, but a family restaurant that does quality food with heritage and love.
Go now before they start getting really busy, because it's only a matter of time until it takes an hour to get a table. But let me tell you what, it'll...
Read moreIf you are coming here in a hurry, it might not be a place to stop by to grab a quick bite. This was our first time here. The Yelp waitlist was disabled and I had to check in with the host. It was a one hour wait. Luckily, there was a shaded waiting area outside. However, the chairs were flimsy and really need to be replaced before someone falls. The ambiance inside was a hispanic style. Small, but cute, clean, well air-conditioned with super friendly staff. I had to remove a star as their systems went down, and we had to wait an additional 45 min until we got our food. They were not able to view the receipts in the kitchen, so it caused a huge delay. They were kind enough to compensate by throwing in a desert. We came hungry and ordered more food as we were indecisive. However, by the time the food came, we lost our appetite as we filled up on water and coffee. I wish I could say it was worth the wait. We got sopes and chilaquiles. I'm not a fan of the very corn taste, as it reminds me of Texmex style. I'm hispanic, so before I get judgment about the very strong corn taste remark, it overpowered everything else that was on the plate. I feel that the chilaquiles needed spice, and lots of it. The steak on the plate was very good on its own, but for sopes, I highly suggest to the restaurant to cut the meat up v adding a huge slice inside of the sope. It was very difficult to eat and had way too much egg. The portions of everything were huge. So it you are hungry you will get lots of food. Hubby got french toast, and he was not very impressed. It was like any other French toast. The presentation of everything was very good, but missing that taste to get me to come back. Unfortunately, I can't say we would come back anytime soon. I think others may enjoy it a bit more, but we did not have the experience we...
Read morethis is a cute place!! packed when you come between breakfast and lunchtime, the wait time was a bit longer than the host told us, which is no biggie because it's busy time for them. once we were sat, we ordered drinks and food, which came out super fast by the way despite the fact that every table was full!! first off, i got a cappuccino which was super good. the milk stayed foamy on top throughout my entire meal, and it was really nice. they also topped it with cinnamon which I liked. I heard this place is known for their coffee and I can see why, so I recommend getting coffee while you're here! for my meal, I got the avocado toast. The toast came with avocado, feta cheese, an egg cooked to your preference, and more feta cheese on top. there was other stuff like a dressing and veggies in the description, which i assumed would be on the toast, but it was actually on the side salad!! I was a little disappointed but it was probably my fault for not reading the menu close enough. the salad was really simple, greens with radish, cucumber, carrots, and light dressing. my only ick about this was that it was warm... other than that it was tasty. the toast itself was different than I am used to, it was more of a savory style avocado toast, if that makes sense at all. I am personally more used to refreshing, tangy avocado toasts. it wasn't bad, just different! the egg was a bit much for me though, so I ended up taking it off and putting the rest of my salad on top of the toast instead which tasted great! overall, I would definitely come here again, but order something different, and I 100% recommend this place to anyone wanting a...
