Wally's Desert Turtle — Restaurant in Rancho Mirage

A group of us decided to "do" Friday Lunch & Fashion Show at Wally's and we are SO glad we did. What fun!!! Not only was the service fantastic with our server greeting us within 1 minute of being seated but another staff person was right behind him with wonderfully fresh baked and warm rolls and butter. We decided on a Moet Chandon Rose champagne to share as a table and it was perfect for the prixe fixe menu ($39.95 not including tip and beverages) that they offered including a homemade Cream of Cauliflower soup, then a choice of 8 items for your entree (we chose a Quiche with green salad and others had the Beef Carpaccio and the Tuna Tartare that also got 2 thumbs up. Desert was a light and creamy hazelnut puff pastry ending with a cappuccino. The Fashion Show was very casual with models coming to the table and explaining what they wearing and from what boutique along with the cost of the items. Again a fun way to spend a Friday lunch with your friends or even just a mom/daughter get together. We all had a great time and finished the luncheon by looking around the pop up shops of all the vendors that showed their fashions during lunch. I came here on 2/6/25 on the last night of a week-long business trip and man, what a way to end the trip!

I remember the fancy dining chain, The Velvet Turtle, growing up and this restaurant was made by the guy who created that chain. The restaurant was beautifully decorated inside and they had a live singer for entertainment who did an amazing job.

The service was TOP NOTCH. As a solo diner I was presented with two table options, including one that had a view of the entire restaurant, which is the one I took. It was the right choice, such an amazing restaurant and such incredible detail in the design and furnishing.

The service team was excellent. In addition to the server and his assistant, the manager was constantly coming around to make sure everyone in the restaurant was well taken care of, to take away empty plates, etc.

I started with their "Autumn Salad" which was very good, even the tofu, and I had their filet for my main course. Everything was delicious and I'd absolutely recommend coming here.

They do have valet parking up front and there is plenty of options for those not wishing to valet.

Along the wall in the hallway to the restroom they have plaques going back at least 15 years without a break signifying that they are a four Michelin star rated restaurant and it is...

The carpaccio is beyond excellent!! in fact, it’s one of the dishes that keeps bringing me back here over and over.

When it comes to the style, it is far from outdated! This is one of those restaurants that is your TIMELESS, CHIC AND CLASSIC STYLE! Which means it’s never gonna change and it never goes out of style and it’s one of the reasons I love it so much you don’t find this level of elegance at places anymore!

Madalyn, her father and mother run this place so well and treat every person in a personal manner so they feel the most welcome!

Yes, it’s pricey, but the food is so worth the price. I have never been disappointed with a single meal or menu item that I have ordered every time I come here. We have been coming faithfully for four years now since we discovered this wonderful restaurant.!
