TOKI JAPANESE RESTAURANT — Restaurant in Red Bank

What happened to this place?? We used to go here all the time pre-pandemic for the excellent food. We ordered delivery last night and it was horrible! The old choices are no longer available. Some of our order didn’t arrive until we called them to bring back what was missing. The food we got was completely tasteless. Perfect example…my son wouldn’t try my roll because “it has spicy mayo on top” and he won’t eat spice. I assured him there was zero flavor of spice in whatever that orange sauce was. He tried and said it was fine. However, none of us could finish the lobster roll. It used to be my favorite, but this didn’t resemble their old one in any way. The lobster was so overcooked and rubbery that none of us could swallow it and we just threw away a very expensive dinner.

I took the kids to this restaurant yesterday around 5 pm. The place is clean the hostess was friendly the waitress was grumpy. We ordered the hibachi dinners, and we're quite disappointed. The best item was the soup. The salad was wilted with a ridiculous amount of a too sweet ginger dressing. The dinner came out quickly. The med and med rare steaks were on the wrong plate. One ordered steak and chicken and the other steak and shrimp, so it mattered. My shrimp was rubberized and not tasty. The lo mein was covered in a too sweet sauce. I asked for mustard on the side when I ordered and was abruptly told it comes with the meal. It did not, so I waited for the waitress to bring it. It was a little mustard added to that sweet sauce they use so heavy handedly. I would not go to this restaurant again, even if I asked for sauces on the side, because of the disappointing...

I placed an order for takeout in early October 2020. The person I spoke with on the phone was very easy to understand and took down my order accurately. We picked up the food and it was ready at the time the restaurant said it would be. Upon arriving home (30-minute trip), the food was still hot and fresh. We ordered a few sushi rolls and their chicken katsu dinner. The Katsu dinner was very good (4/5), while he sushi was average (3/5). Since the freshness, speed and quality of service were great, I'll average the score to 4/5. A fun tidbit, and something I wish more restaurants would do, was that they placed the hot soups in disposable coffee cups. It made consuming the soup much more convenient without needing...
