I have never in my life had a more wonderful experience with a restaurant. Not only was the food absolutely divine, and the wait time unbelievably short, but my server Jerry only elevated the experience from a 10/10 to a 100/10. It may look like a small hole-in-the-wall place, but don't be fooled. The food and service are absolutely top tier. I first discovered China Doll when I was walking down the street whilst eating takeout from another Chinese restaurant. However, I began to choke as I walked past China Doll. I can only imagine the other restaurant had attempted to POISON ME. As I struggled to breathe and began to lose vision, I heard quick footsteps approaching. Light on his feet, Jerry rushed from across the road (He had just helped an elderly woman cross the busy street) to my aide. He then proceeded to give me the Heimliech maneuver. The sweet & sour pork flew out of my throat and into a garbage bin. I saw Jerry's hand extend as he offered me a plate from China Doll. As I looked up to see the man who saved my life, my eyes were met with a pleasant sight. Jerry was as well-groomed as a king and yet so humble as to help one such as me. I cried tears of joy upon laying my eyes unto him. I thanked him profusely, yet he didn't accept any of my thanks. "It is simply what was right, my friend. I was given life, and will use it to help those in need." After he spoke those words, I recognized him. This was the man who saved my little brother from a burning building. He ran in without one hesitation, risking his life for him. I could never thank Jerry enough for all that he has done for my family and I. And so, I now only go to China Doll when I crave Chinese cuisine. Thank you, China Doll, and Thank you, Jerry. I owe...
Read moreBefore my lunch break today I heard from a customer at work that this place was the best. Being still new to the area I haven’t explored all the restaurants in town. So I ordered the orange tofu to go, specifically indicating no meat as I’m vegetarian. Got some cream cheese wantons too. I ate the wantons in the parking lot as I was super hungry. They were delicious! yes, I ate all 10 of them and am not sorry! I didn’t look at the orange tofu until I got to work. I opened the box and I was shocked and dismayed. There were meat strips on my tofu. I called the restaurant and complained. The gentleman that answered the phone explained that they were orange peel pieces. These pieces did not look like orange peels. I picked one dark strip up, pulled it apart and it shred just like meat so I insisted it was meat. They offered to drive a new meal over to my work as I could not leave to return the food. Talk about going above and beyond to ensure customer satisfaction. When the guy gets there with my new food, there were these ‘meat’ strips on it too! Then the guy tells me they’re dehydrated orange peels. Turns out, dehydrated orange peel when rehydrated is darker and shreds apart like overcooked beef. Learned something new today. So after pulling my foot out of my mouth I had a taste of this dubiously meatless orange tofu. WOW! It was amazing! You tofu eaters know what I mean when I say this was not rubber tofu. It had lots of garlic and was saucy with a bit of a spicy kick. And yes, the ‘meat’ strips were orange peels. My apologies to the China Doll chef. I used to go to another restaurant in town for orange tofu. Good bye other restaurant, good...
Read moreOrdered the special they had on their wall. Ate my food as a dine in customer not "to go" though I saw others take theirs "to go" while I was there.
Food was steaming hot when they served it. Even with letting it cool a bit I burned my tongue biting into the sweet and sour chicken 😂. That's on me, but for real they serve fresh food and it is hot when they bring it out.
Food was decent for taste. As for the price I would say it's a decent amount for the cost of it so points there as well. The staff was attentive to the point I said I was fine and didn't need anything further. Even then as soon as I was halfway through my drink they offered more and when I was finishing my meal they had the bill ready for me. Even then they asked if I wanted anything else.
Overall not a bad experience for my one off time going there a few weeks ago. Also definitely much better than my experience at another Chinese " restaurant " when I was last...
