Just went in to get donuts. 3pm November 1, 2021. All I wanted was two Apple fritters. I’m waiting my turn and I’m watching the one lady and an older lady behind the counter. One keeps taking her mask off to talk then putting it back on. Then she handles food. She gets a wrapper to grab the donuts and she’s touching both sides of the paper. She does this for a dozen items. The second lady is handling the food for another customer but then takes cash and doesn’t wash her hands before she wants to get me my donuts. She did that with the customer before that one. One never touches cash and not clean hands. That’s basic health code. This isn’t the first time I’ve come in and found their food practices lacking in basic sanitation. They’ve used their hands to make the parfaits and other products that they should be wearing gloves. I mean literally using bare hands to grab handfuls of each item. Wiping hands off with a wet towel between each item. Not sure why I stop there anymore. It’s a hit and miss as to their following the Oregon health codes and the quality of their products. The cookies are hit and miss as to wether they will be burnt or hard as a rock or just plan yummy. Never had a pastry or donut that I didn’t love yo-yo about two years ago. The last two years the sanitary conditions and quality of the products have drastically fallen below their...
Read moreThank Goodness this place is far, far away from my house! Pies, Cookies, Pastries, Cakes, Doughnuts, Bread, Ice Cream, Day olds, smiles, laughter, smells, tastes...oh yes, it's all here! I have not eaten bakery goodies this fabulous since my childhood. So, when you're in Reedsport, if you don't stop in, you'll be sorely missing out. The folks that run the Bakery are quite lovely, very inviting & have no reason to be pushy sales folks, because the deliciousness sells itself!! Since it was totally impossible to try everything in a 4 day camping trip, I can only tell you my favorites out of what we did get to try. Mini Poppyseed cakes, both Raspberry & Lemon, Scones, Glazed Raised Doughnuts & my personal fave was the Glazed Chocolate Cake Doughnut. All the other things we bought were super delicious as well, but the ones I listed were my favorites. We went twice but, the first time I forgot to take a photo of what we bought, simply because we were just too busy gobbling them all down in pure...
Read moreI enjoy stopping here for coffee and a treat whenever I'm passing through on my way home from the coast. The service has always been helpful and friendly, plus the baked items were tasty and of good value. On this trip, however, none of the ladies were to be seen, and the fellow at counter was neither helpful or friendly. I was misquoted the price for sourdough bread, causing unnecessary confusion, delay, and embarrassment. Why didn't they just mark it or put up a sign? (ORS 616.860 (1), I believe, addresses this situation.) The sticky bun was decent, but the icing on the maple bar was runny/drippy. The sourdough, selling for an overpriced artisan price, tasted like regular white bread. Had I not been flustered by the price confusion, I would have paid closer attention to the ingredients (which included soybean oil, cornstarch, and datem) and passed it over. The atmosphere was so different on this visit, that my first question for the guy at the register was if there...
