I give this vet clinic zero stars. I have so many problems with this clinic I donât know where to begin. The cleanliness of this building is horrendous. There was hair, lint and pee in all the corners and cracks of the tiles. The bathroom was absolutely disgusting. My boyfriend felt like he was in a horror film and he was about to get stabbed with how low maintenance the bathroom was. The surgery room had so many mildew covered holes it was ridiculous.
The vet doctor Mark Felton felt VERY unprofessional. He kept commenting sarcastically that it was âperfect. Thatâs just greatâ after my cat vomited in her carrier. He kept over talking me and it felt like he was accusing me of not knowing basic cat care. She was having urinary problems and he combed her for fleas and stated it was the problem. He tried to sell me a dose of flea meds as if it would fix the problem but both my cats are already on a flea treatment regiment. And I brought her in for having troubles peeing. He some how didnât know the price of the antibiotics he was trying to sell me went up. Mark told me that I needed to get vet prescribed cat food and I could only get it here. No where else would have the food Iâm looking for. He couldnât take a urine sample from my cats bladder because it was âemptyâ but she peed a little on the floor and he syringed it up and put it under the microscope. He told me she had crystals. He seems too carefree and clueless. It made my boyfriend wonder if he was drunk. I had to take my cat to the ER vet in veneta four days later because her anal sac ruptured. Turns out her anal glands were full and needed to be expressed or decompressed. If Mark Felton did his job he would have felt her glands to see if they were full and I wouldnât have had to waste more money on a vet visit that could have been avoided. Dr Mark Felton felt lazy and unprepared. I do not recommend him as your vet. My boyfriendâs mom will not be taking her animals here anymore. And nor will I. This could have been avoided if he just did his job right. I will be complaining to the veterinary board and if you check other reviews you can see owners complain about their pets having more complications or expiring after visiting Dr. Mark for a check up. Attached are photos of my beautiful cat, whiskerzâs ruptured anal gland. Which, again, could have been avoided if Mark would have just felt around more instead of trying to sell me bitter antibiotics and vet brand cat food. (Also, these five star ratings seem very candied and fake.)
UPDATE: Barely three weeks go by and my cat passed away after this visit. Itâs been three months since she passed. If the doctor had done his job he would have seen that my kitty had cancer. I wouldnât have spent this much knowing she was dying. She could have spent her last days in peace. But he rode it off as fleas being the issue. I am devastated and heartbroken. I can not stress enough that he needs...
Read moreThe wonderful Dr Felton and team at Lower Umpqua Veterinarian Clinic saved Max.
After a routine surgery on Wednesday done at a clinic in Coos Bay Max went into Hemolytic Anemia Crisis, although at the time we did not know it. There are too many unfavorable details that I care not to share about the clinic that performed the surgery.
What I choose to focus on is the caring people at Dr Feltonâs office that went above and beyond over and over to save Max. Every single person on his team were amazing, kind and caring. Dr Felton spent so much time with Max and myself. Giving me honest input and options throughout his care. Max went into acute renal failure secondary to hemalytic anemia. Thursday when I brought Max in all we knew at the time is we needed to treat the renal failure and then figure out why he was in it so we could treat the cause. It was a blessing to watch this intelligent, kind man in action working through all the clinical signs and symptoms, labs and tests while treating the obvious serious kidney failure at hand while looking for a cause.
Today at the follow up visit Dr Felton and his team was happy as I to see that Max had improved RBCs and H&H with normal kindey function. In addition testing showed that his cells were normal no more hemolysisđđ».
Max was so excited to get his IV out. He literally ran around the office checking everything out. His appetite has not been great. He had a few oz chicken last night and the day before but for the most part not wanting to eat. On our way home I asked him if he wante a cheeseburger, he perked up so we went through the DQ and got him a burger he could hardly wait to eat it. He at 3/4 of the burger, I limited the bun to 1/4 or so. Wanted to make sure his little body could handle this big first meal.
We are moving in the right direction and we are no longer in life-saving mode. He is out of the woods for now. We may never know exactly what put him into hemolytic anemia crisis he may need to be on long term steroids to prevent it again since we do not know if it is a primary or secondary cause. He could have an underlying issue that we are not aware of yet or it could have been a trigger from surgery meds...its hard to say for now. The joyful part is I have more time with my little guy and I am forever grateful for this additional time. Thank you Dr Felton...
Read moreWORST experience EVER! We took my fur baby for a (possible) bad tooth. He wiggled it, tapped it and said "oh, she probably just cracked it, and the blood leaked into it, its not a bad tooth.". He kept calling her a HIM?! Then he started looking in her ear digging around ( she was visibly shaking) And he said "What the Hell? and said "I think I see a Tick foot?" He then got some forceps and then went in a again. and took out the ear thing and said "Oh, its just dirt or something." He proceeded to do a check up on her, and said "lets do a brush and then he started singing "My dog has fleas" he found ONE flea on her ( FYI she has NEVER in 11 years had fleas her entire Life). He then said he could sell me all sorts of stuff to cure fleas, including a spray ( that could take off nail polish). And a Nexgard pill ( good by prescription only) for 30 days. He was very stand offish and not personable at all. He did not even say hello to my other fur baby ( 1 year border collie/lab mix) and refused to offer anything to him in case he had fleas too. He then said that this town ( of Reedsport) was the dirt town ( basically talking down about this town. He was not pleasant nor educated ( i have owned fur babies for well over 20 years). He then said that he could find something wrong with my dogs, because he loves to freak them out by finding wrong stuff. I told him NO THANK YOU and how we had just lost a fur baby to Lymphoma Last October.. He showed no emotion, no concern, not even compassion. He simply laughed it off.. WORST PART is the charges came too 80.00 bucks!! I felt terrible leaving there with no answers, nothing I did not feel welcom nor warm about this place!
Let me say I am very aware that dogs do in fact get fleas/ticks/mites and all, and I am fully aware that things happen to dogs. I have always taken very good care of by dogs and before ANYONE attacks me about my fur babies teeth, she is 11 years old.. teeth do not last Forever!
Please, for the love of your pet, take them somewhere else!
On a side no he refused to even acknowledge my other fur baby what so ever. AND FYI, i do not expect rose petals and 1st class treatment when i enter a vet, HOWEVER, i do expect compassion, concern, answers and so much more from a Vet. Sorry, I will not go to this...
