Read moreThe family was really looking forward to a great meal as this was the last night of a great 2 week vacation. We had eaten here last year and it was very enjoyable.
However, this was one of the worst dining experiences that I've ever had, certainly in the top 5.
It started out with asking us if we wanted to sit in a room with no AC on a 98 degree day.
Then when we sat down, we were told they couldn't accept credit cards, internet was down. They could accept cash and we could go to the ATM to get 300 in cash. Not sure about anyone else, but i dont carry much cash these days. Next they were out of hummus, that's like an Italian restaurant not having red sauce.
When the drinks came, the mint lemonade had a ketchup like aftertaste, not sure why but it did.
The meals came fairly quickly after the apps, which were only middling. The lamb was way overcooked, the spanikopta looked store bought, however the chicken was cooked just right.
The topper was after asking for the check several times, we were told the POS was down and they weren't sure what to do.
We asked for some consideration, they offered free drinks during our next visit, like that would happen. Finally, after a bit of discussion, they did the right thing and offered a fair mea culpa.
Thankfully theywere able to accept venmo and we left.
I felt sorry for the server, she tried her best in this situation, although she could have handled things better.
Bottomline: the food was mediocre, way over priced and the lack of support from management makes for a...
Read moreWe visited Aroma in Rehoboth Beach last Sunday. I don’t usually leave reviews, especially not to discredit a place or someone personally. Honestly, the food was excellent, and the service was quick.
We had a reservation, and although we arrived late, a little over an hour before closing, they welcomed us kindly. My boyfriend even ordered two extra dishes last minute, and they had no problem preparing them.
When it came time to pay, we realized they don’t accept Apple Pay. My boyfriend went to the register and paid using his card number, as we didn’t have a physical card with us, something that’s quite common nowadays. The bill was around $200, and he left a 10% tip.
While we were finishing our meal, our server came over and asked how everything was, but in a slightly unusual tone. She then mentioned how much she makes per hour ($2.50 or something similar), which we completely understand varies by state. What felt a little uncomfortable was her suggesting that if we could leave a tip, even though one had already been given.
To be clear, my boyfriend was respectful the entire time and didn’t refuse to tip again, this time another 10% tip when she asked. In the end we left the 20%. It wasn’t about the money, but more about the way it was handled. We truly value good service and believe there are more professional ways to address these situations.
Other than that small detail, everything else about the...
