We went to dinner on Wednesday 5/19/21, and the service and food has a lot to be desired. Honestly this trip was the most disappointing trip to the purple parrot we have ever had. We normally rave and tell people about this place. We knew going into it would be a different atmosphere with COVID and the restrictions.
We was seated fairly quickly by a girl didn’t catch her name but she had white fake fingernails. She took our drink order and explain the Q code menu ordering style. She brought our drinks we placed our orders. We ordered a half pound steamed shrimp, a crab cake special and a prime rib dinner well done!!
Here is where it went down hill…… the food runner I assume was her job long dark hair girl came out with our shrimp and went to every table asking if the shrimp was there even had a table take and pull back the paper in the container to see what it was in the container. Not only did she go to every table with the shrimp but they were over cooked so they was tough.
Our drinks was empty and no one walking by no one stopped finally our dinner was served and a second round of drinks at that time came. The prime rib still has blood coming out of it and was to be done. The waitress made the comment well we can’t make it well done and told me to order something else. By this time I’m aggravated so I went with the crab cake special. It came out before I could blink my eye. Then that was the last time we seen the waitress until she brought our check.
We paid and left. I sent a personal message thru Facebook that evening which was read by whomever runs their page but not once has ANYONE from this establishment reached out to discuss anything. It is very disheartening how this has went unnoticed when this place used to be so customer oriented.
UPDATE!!!!!
Hugh reached out to me and is making it right. I totally understand how being so short staffed it is to operate a restaurant. We will give it another chance the next time we are in...
Read moreOn June 18th around 1:30pm, My husband and I came to the Biergarten after we had gotten off the beach. We decided to have drinks and appetizers. The draft beer was refreshing and cold. The food on the other hand was disappointing. We ordered tater tots and chicken tenders. Upon ordering, not even 5 minutes later and tater tots showed up at our table that were barely warm and there were no chicken tenders. That took another 15 minutes for those to arrive. When they arrived, they just looked unappetizing. We both took a couple of bites and could not finish them. We understand the service aspect is very laid back, but neither bartender nor manager on duty was even remotely checking on customers and we should not have to track someone down to express our disappointment. They were more concerned with checking to people they know and who are more frequent visitors. Back to the chicken tenders, if you are going to have a menu item such as handed breaded chicken tenders; make sure someone has trained the staff on how to do proper breading procedure. The look of tenders was that they looked like random cuts of chicken dropped into the fryer. Words of advice coming from someone who has 30 plus years of experience in foodservice; when offering a hand breaded from scratch type product, you need to marinate the food product. In this case, marinate the chicken tenders so that way they have flavor and by marinating them, it will keep the tenders moist. Also, you make sure you season the items you use for the breading procedure. When a customer takes a bit; that bit will have flavor from start to finish. Back to service, when a guest orders food; make sure management tells the staff to send everything together. We do enjoy coming to the Purple Parrot, but the food aspect needs to...
Read moreHad the worse experience at the Purple Parrot ever! This was a frequent stomping ground to eat good food and to drink adult beverages for the last five years. Well, this has ended as of 7/14/15. There was eleven of us and the place was steady but not outrageous with patrons. The person who greeted us I thought was our waitress and asked if she was going to wait on us. She said no, but the waiter that was going to wait on us was very good. Well, it took too long to greet us and way too long to get the first round of drinks (all were special of the day beers). The soups came out with the meals except two soups that didn't show up and when they did, there was no crab in the crab soup. Half of us received our meals while the other half watched us eat. We asked for a third round of the beer on the special three different times, which never showed up. I even made a comment to the waiter "I tip very well" and I do, usually 20 to 30%. This did not help. Finally the rest of the food came out. One in the group asked to see a manager. Jill showed up and she did not look like the manager and was asked if she was the manger. We received the usual sorry b.s. and stated the third round of beer would be taken off our bill. Half of the group at the same time said "we didn't get any beer". The manager said ok, let us give you a free dessert. We said no thank you and asked for the bill. The waiter comes out and gives us two pieces of cake for eleven people...really. We left it. The waiter new or not should've asked for help and bartenders should have been on top of waiter's requests for drinks. The manager should have taken off all the meals that came out 15 minutes later than the first round of meals instead of trying to buy us...
