We signed up for an hour wait which we were more than okay with. It ended up being about an hour and a half, but since we were coming on a holiday, we didn’t blame them for the extra time. What was disappointing was that we chose the restaurant based on the aesthetic perpetuated online, but after waiting that long, we were seated in what I equated to a “Supply Closet.” While a reasonable distance from most patrons, we were cozy next to their vacuum, high chairs, etc. There were other tables open in the cute garden area, so for waiting as long as we did, I would’ve anticipated one of those — but not the end of the world.
Service began with our waitress asking if she could sit with us because it had been “such a long day.” It quickly devolved into hearing about her personal life and experiences that week. As someone who worked in hospitality for over a decade, I saw through the gimmick but ultimately didn’t mind. Everything that followed over the next two hours is what made this opening extra obnoxious.
Our drinks were ordered, then food a few minutes later. It took about 20 minutes to get drinks. Not terrible, but not great. We became truly bothered when it had been an hour since ordering food and nothing had arrived, nor had we seen our server since the drinks. We likely would have ordered and finished two more rounds, but never had the chance. Her loss, mostly. That said, the drinks were pretty good.
At this point we could only observe — the table beside us had gotten their appetizer, finished it, and their entrées were now landing. My fiancé respectfully went to the busboy to express concern about our food and not seeing our waitress. Moments later, she appears from “Somewhere” with “Hey! I heard you’re not happy with how long the food is taking. It IS a holiday weekend so we’re super busy! But it’s coming. Can I get you new drinks?” The etiquette here felt unnecessarily defensive.
During the supplemental wait, we reflected on how underwhelming this had been. Did she overhear us? Not sure, but she swooped to our table with food, said “Oops! Wrong table!” and carried it off to the far side of the restaurant. It felt very intentional, leaving us confident it was meant as a jab. We even apologized for “being annoying.” Mind you, we’d shown no dissatisfaction beyond asking the busboy for an update. Her response — “It’s fine, we all get that way when we’re hangry” — reaffirmed the malintent.
Finally, our food arrived. A mixed bag. My fiancé got the Lobster Benny, borderline inedible from salt. As salt lovers, we all confirmed it was unacceptable, but at this point we just wanted out. The Chicken Sandwich and Smash Burger were solid, and the Sweet Heat Cauliflower was fine.
When it came time for the check, our server accommodated and offered “Free Prosecco” to make up for the wait. A kind gesture, and her demeanor seemed to have shifted. We split the check, which wasn’t cheap, so unfortunate things had gone this way. I was inclined to leave a “bad tip,” which for me is 18%, but with the handheld device in her hand, the lowest preset was 20%. I wasn’t about to scroll through custom options with her watching. So, a little uncomfortably, she scored 20%.
Ultimately, you can come here and probably have a great experience — or a miserable one. It seems to depend on the day and the staff. We’re not from the area, so had no plans to return regardless, but there are hundreds of beautiful restaurants in town.

Read moreI'm...a little shocked at the overall high review of this place. My friends and I went here for dinner on the last night of our trip. The atmosphere was really nice; we sat outside on the deck and could hear music from inside the restaurant as well as from the bar a bit down the street from us but it wasn't crazy loud, we could hear each other talk, the weather was beautiful, etc. The waitress was very sweet as well! It's just the food. And the drinks. They weren't great. They were actually pretty bad. For a chicken sandwich that was supposed to have honey and aioli on it, it was the blandest freakin thing I've ever eaten in my life. And that was the consensus for the entire table, the food was either just at ok or very disappointing. We had walked by the place earlier in the day around breakfast/brunch time and it was busy. So we thought, maybe it's more of a brunch place? Like it's good quality before 1pm? Then the next day around 11am before we left, we were walking by the restaurant again and one of my friends starts laughing, she's like I just saw this woman sitting at a table outside take a sip of her drink and grimace. There are some great places on the Rehoboth Beach Boardwalk to eat, but alas, Somewhere is not one of them. If you do feel inclined to try this place, your best bet MIGHT be for breakfast. DO NOT go for dinner, I can without question say that. Hope this helps and...
Read moreI checked out this little place called Somewhere in Rehoboth Beach. Had some drinks, had an appetizer, dinner and dessert. Upon walking into this restaurant we are greeted immediately by Pleasant and Professional service. This Hidden Gem has an intimate feel with great beverages, personalized service, and delightful food. The Mojito was very solid and well-balanced. The wild are cocktail pack a powerful fruit punch flavor with Exquisite presentation. The appetizer, pickled deviled eggs, was different from any other deviled eggs but in a positive and delightful way. There was a strong mustard taste that complements the pickled egg. The lychee ginger limeade was a refreshing limeade beverage with the sweetness of lychee and a balance of the ginger. For dinner we ordered the fried chicken sandwich and the chicken and waffles. The fried chicken sandwich was moist and the reading was very crunchy, and had a delayed Heat that was surprising yet Pleasant. The chicken and waffles were delicious, with the same crunchy exterior of the chicken, pairing very well with the Sweet Taste of the waffles and syrup. For dessert, we had the fruit shortcake which the seasonal fruit was blueberry-- it was savory and well balanced with the fruit and whipped cream topping. Had a great dining experience here, and cant...
