Had one of their vanilla butter cakes today not realizing how many discussed the preservatives and additives are in it. 9$ on 2 butter cakes, I cannot eat! I want a refund
1 Titanium dioxide, used primarily as a white pigment, is believed to increase the risk of cancer. Given the potential risks associated with E171, the European Union has decided to ban titanium dioxide as a food additive from 2022, after its safety was questioned by EFSA, which considered that it could no longer considered.
2 sodium benzene This additive is a by-product of benzoic acid, a substance that may increase hypersensitivity and/or cause intolerance reactions: severe allergic reactions, urticaria, gastrointestinal disorders, skin reactions, asthma attacks, and effects on the central nervous system. It is also believed to promote hyperactivity and attention deficit disorders in children.
3 Mono- and diglycerides of fatty acids This additive is generally used as an emulsifier. Emulsifiers are believed to disrupt the intestinal flora and to increase the risk of auto-immune disorders, allergies, and inflammatory diseases. Recent INSERM studies from 2023 and 2024 have concluded that it also increases the risk of cancer and cardiovascular disease.

Read moreSo glad we stumbled upon Frank and Louie's this year. I'm disappointed that I've been going to Rehoboth for well over a decade and didn't know about this gem.
We tried their butter cake at another restaurant in Rehoboth and I had to go back several night later because it was one of the best desserts I have ever had. Luckily I Google'd the shop during the last evening of our stay and found out they were local. We made a point to stop before we left Rehoboth and they did not disappoint! The subs we got were amazing as well! My boys (7 and 5) both really liked the turkey sub and the portion was enough that it would feed them both twice. My husband and I both got two meals out of our subs as well. We tried a Dulce De Leche butter cake while we were there and my oldest asked "how do they make the best cake ever here?!".
My only suggestion would be to call ahead with your order unless you are ok with the possibility you may need to walk around and return later. It took about 40 minutes to prep our 3 sandwiches and 5 butter cakes due to another large pick up order a head of us, but it was WELL worth the wait. There are several cute shops right down the street to browse in if there is a wait. There were 3 patio tables with umbrellas to eat at that each had 3 seats to them and we enjoyed our lunch before our trip home. We will be back next year and this will become a staple of our annual Rehoboth...
Read moreIf you hear someone walking down Baltimore Ave in Rehoboth Beach muttering “oh my god… oh my god…” repeatedly, don’t worry – it’s just me eating my Italian sub from Frank & Louie’s.
Frank & Louie’s isn’t just a deli. It’s an institution of culinary joy. We had the Italian and the eggplant cutlet subs, and each bite felt like being hugged by Nonna herself. The bread? Perfection. The meats? Sliced so thin they’d blow away in a summer breeze. The freshness of everything? Off the charts. Honestly, I’m still thinking about my next order, and I haven’t even finished digesting this one.
Plus, you’re greeted by Robin up front, who radiates kindness and world-class service, while Frank and Louie are in the back creating sandwich masterpieces like two culinary Michelangelos. Pro tip: CALL AHEAD. Call a day ahead. Call from your childhood if you have to. Just get your order in. Worth. Every....
