Very sketchy and this is why. First, not one Asian person went here. That ruins all credibility. Plus what does Duncan know about pork knuckle pho broth anyway? Duncan only knows Betty Crocker snd Hungry Man dinners and Warm Keystones.
Also another red flag is the menu is in English only. Thats bad. For validity, a Asian place must have Asian congee on its sign. Calling it "OK for Duncan Pagoda" is not ok.
This is how you know that a place is good.
You are the only non Asian person in the restaurant
There are cooked ducks and chickens displayed at the front window.
The owner is also taking footbsll bets at a booth thst has been designated as his office/ TV stand
Forks are not allowed to be used for any part of your meal
Everyone eats rice out if a bowl, never a plate
There is an extensive menu handwritten in Chinese hanging in the walls.
Theres live seafood in tanks for you to pick as your dinner
The menu always begins with a jellyfish head cheese appetizer platter follow by Sharkfin soup (always)
You can tell that they rather not cook for white people but trust me, the food they eat is better than the slop Duncan craves when that leftover gas station sushi goes bad.
10 Finally, .bring a Chinese friend to ensure better ingredients because we Chinese take care of our own. Best believe that...
Read moreWe came here for lunch on Wednesday, April 12. We ordered combination pho, Bún bò Huế, chicken fried rice, and sautéed spicy calamari. Any pho bowl you order it’s $11 for regular and $12 for large. The Bún bò Huế is set at $13 for that one only. The chicken fried rice is $12. The sautéed spicy calamari is $14. The prices are decent but for some of the items they are a bit over priced. We come here often when we visit Reno. The flavor is always good. I always seem to get a lot of meat in the dishes I order as well. The Bún bò Huế had the pork blood in it that I love. There were 2 pork feet in them; they were soft like they should be and was edible. For the Sautéed Spicy Calamari, the flavor was unique and good. I would say if you know Asian flavors you would like it, but if you don’t, you would think it’s nasty. The Chicken Fried Rice had lots of flavor in it. It looks plain, but it was not. The service was fast and great when we sat and ordered. The only thing I disliked was that they never came back to check up on us like they usually do. I needed a water refill and they didn’t notice that. So for 4 dishes we spent almost $56. Overall, good food and...
Read moreNike said it best, “Just do it!” Amazing food and a quiet atmosphere with friendly, great service. We stopped in for lunch and I ordered the skirt steak and meatball pho bowl. My wife had the chicken pho. For appetizers we ordered some pot stickers and egg rolls. Everything was amazing! Do yourself a favor and go on a cold winter day like we did! You will not be disappointed! I will say that I made the mistake of ordering a large. WAY more pho than I needed, or could finish! Definitely ample portions! Also, I’ve been to a lot of pho restaurants where the rice noodles were stuck in a sticky ball at the bottom of the bowl - not the case here. Noodles seemed freshly made and weren’t stuck together at all. Speaking of fresh, our bowls came accompanied by a heaping plate of fresh basil, bean sprouts, lime wedges, and thinly sliced jalapeños to add as desired for taste. So much flavor! So much food! We’ve found our new spot for...
