Here’s a place that does vary on quality based on chefs on shift, however they have obviously done something to fix this compared to previous times I’ve come about 1-2 yrs ago. Didn't stop going because of quality just mainly didn’t work in there area anymore. We went on off peak hours I’d say as most of their traffic is the lunch rush daily considering the amount of business workers that flock to the area for food. Chicken katsu skewers: If you have texture problems this can be a gamble however the chefs tonight did great! I got the dinner entree which includes three skewers, rice, tonkatsu sauce, edamame, a cabbage salad, miso soup, and an orange slice. The chicken was not that fatty and fried great, my bone to pick is I’ve always hated the skewers themselves as you’ll only get about three good dips in the sauce before you are ripping the meat off the stick. Also I’ve always hated the dressing they put in the salad, this is a personal gripe as the sauce is sweet, creamy, and tangy and in my opinion could be left off the plate entirely. I like the edamame as a buffer when I’m eating so much carbs and again the orange slice and kale garnish could be left off the plate as well if they are sent back regularly untouched. Potstickers: A small throw in here they are the most mild or mid potstickers you’ll get. Not the best but good to eat and not really something you’ll crave after eating either. The sauce they produce is ok but it tastes way to strong of Wasabi in a way and is not pleasant or complementing to the flavors of the potsticker. In my experience the best dipping sauce for these is actually the tonkatsu sauce. All you can eat sushi: Def recommend coming here for the sushi, usually fresh and well made and of course will vary on the chef making it. Tonight we got a more generous helping of sauces and garnish with the sushi and although I couldn’t get pictures of all that my partner ate you can see the presentation is beautiful. In conclusion I could tell they made an effort to improve and as a side note even save a bit on their order sheets by doing a three mark system now (our order pictured below). If you like sushi give it a try and if you like chicken katsu be open to what you might get.

BEWARE OF FEE!!!! I had the AYCE (All You Can Eat) option and I was impressed with the nigiri specialties. The sushi was very fresh and the rice to fish ratio was good. Service was very friendly. The only 2 reasons why I gave 4 out of 5 stars was 1) because they tacked on a convenience fee for me using my credit card and didn't disclose this upfront. I only found this out when I emptied out my purse and was about to shred my receipt. I feel that this is part of "doing business" and this fee shouldn't be passed on to customers. I mean after all, who doesn't charge for services and products nowadays anymore? I've not carried cash on me for years. Let's try decades! Yes, I feel shaded and that little .52 cents caused me to write this review because I feel ripped off. It obviously isn't the cost, it's the moral and principal of being charged that fee! 2) My usual "go to" place for sushi is the Sky Terrace inside the Atlantis hotel. Sushi Pier charges the exact same price as the Sky Terrace @ $23.99 per person (lunch). I just feel that they shouldn't be charging the same price at a fancier, nicer setting than a hotel/casino. If that's the case, I might as well just continue to eat at the Sky Terrace inside Atlantis.

I feel like this restaurant could do a lot better… I consider three stars to be “average.“ Four stars “above average,“ and five stars to be truly EXCEPTIONAL. This restaurant was advertised all over when I landed in Reno is having all you can eat sushi. What does not talk to you is that the “all you can eat“ is from a very limited, very plain menu. Most of the rolls were just one or two ingredients. I get it… I completely understand WHY they did that, but I felt like I should’ve known that before I went and saw it in none of the reviews. I ordered a “rainbow roll,“ which I have ordered at hundreds of sushi places all across the country. They all look exactly the same. Not this one. It had a couple kinds of fish inside of a rice roll. No topping. The whole “rainbow“ designation is from the colors of the fish on top of the roll! This was clearly a cost-cutting measure and, again, I understand. It’s better to offer a higher quality at a higher price point than to go cheap, though. I did see rolls that were custom, and the people eating them seemed happy, however, based on my experience with other sushi places and, specifically, other “all you can eat“ sushi places in Reno, I would rate this place is below average.

Was originally supposed to go to a dif AYCE sushi place, but they were closed on July 4th. Between the two I had on standby, we went with Sushi Pier bc it was open.

First off customer service was great. Between all the servers, they were all very attentive, considering it was busy. Hats off to them for keeping on their toes when everyone is just hangry.

The sushi was ok. I would def come back but just stick to the nigiri and handrolls. Two things about the long rolls: 1. Had way too much rice and 2. They just weren’t that great. Unagi is one of my favs and I think I only saw one long roll that had unagi, but it was deep fried. Long roll options were bleak, and they can use more with better combos. I saw a lot of rolls with cream cheese, so I’m not sure if that’s just what Reno likes or if I am just not used to that in the bay area. Anyway, not the best, but not the worst. I say stick to the nigiri and hand rolls and you’re good.

The other thing that I noticed was that sitting at the bar must mean faster service. There were two parties of 4 and 6 that came in AFTER our party of 4; they got their orders first AND they got it fast. Between the four of us, we had about 18 orders and we got the first two long rolls and one set of nigiri about 20 min after ordering. The rest came out slowly but surely. Although the wait staff was great as mentioned above, the sushi chefs were not getting our order in fast enough. The group of 6 left about 30 min before we did, and when I looked over, they had quite a few orders; we were served in increments.

None of us got sick and the quality of sushi seemed good. But as mentioned, just stick to the nigiri and hand rolls, and it will be worth the time.

Parking is easy as it’s in a big strip mall.

Not very big inside, so try to get there when it opens. We arrived at 11:30am and it was not completely full, but a line did form about 30-45 min after...

All you can eat sushi and quality don't generally go together in my experience.. Well Sushi Pier has it and to top it off, excellent customer service to boot. A Good friend of mine and I were in town for a night and he's in Reno at least once a month from the San Joaquin area.. makes it a point to stop here before leaving town. First of all the place is pretty small, the sushi bar seats roughly 20 people Max with an extra 10 tables surrounding the sushi bar itself. My recommendation would to try the lunch hour For $17.95 from 11am-3pm Wich is a tremendous value. The dinner hour $24.95, Monday through Thursday customers the age of 21 and over get a free large hot saki with your AYCE purchase. Our sushi chef was great serving up the finest and freshest salmon nigiri(my fav), hand rolls, baked mussels, Wich we revisited 3 times (6 per order). There was also a waitress handling pretty much every customer in the place and doing a great job. We had large beers with our lunch that the waitress took off our bill because we had to wait a few extra minutes to receive them but honestly, wasn't very long at all for her being by herself. Now, we didn't even ask for that and that speaks Volumes about the importance and level of service they are committed to, experiencing that puts this place over the top for me... After all of the delicious food, you get free dessert to round out your pallet. Just a great place to visit when...
