Starting with the check in experience. I was extremely calm when I entered the hotel and kept a super calm composure throughout my entire conversation. However, for some odd reason the front desk lady seemed to either be in a bad mood or is just generally rude it seemed like to everyone who does not look like her. I went in and she said the rooms weren't ready at 2.30PM. Not an issue I said I will be back at 3PM. The problem here is I booked two rooms, I just needed one room to put my bags. And I did notify Marriott that I will be arriving at Noon. Its a bit hard to believe that neither a single king nor a 2 Queen was ready.
Next I asked her about getting a waived parking fee. Why? Well its simple. There isn't a parking lot that you can pay and park your car at in walking distance. There is no street parking either. Where is a guest supposed to park their car. It's not like the hotel is in downtown Reno. She said sure I will ask the manager.
Next thing is the rooms itself. Good view. Good beds. Clean.
Amenities: would have been nice if we got any! Forgot to give soap. There was no hair dryer in the king room. There was no microwave in the king room. There was no iron in the king room. All things we needed. Luckily we had gotten two rooms so we went to the bigger room to use the microwave and iron pants. Asked about the missing amenities during checkout: response was oh not all rooms have these amenities. But all rooms surely do advertise them when you are booking the room.
A truly stupid design of the bathroom and toilet area for the room with 2 Queens. It is understandable that you wont need a privacy filter on the shower door if you and your wife got a King bed room. But what if its 3 people. The room with 2 queens did not have a lock on the bathroom door. Kinda just stayed open. And you can see someone showering. No privacy at all.
Then comes checkout time. I asked if we can get the parking fee waived. The same check in lady went to ask the boss. And boss apparently said sorry we cannot waive it because everyone pays for it.
If that is the case. I would suggest the boss to tack on the price in the room rent. What I am saying is reasonable. Because there is noooo where else you can park nearby.
I would just stay at the hyatt next door. You should get the marriott experience when you stay at a marriott. This place aint a marriott. Keep in mind i am not talking extreme luxury. I know Aloft comes in the lowest of Marriotts but I have had a lot better experience at other marriotts.
P.s. One good thing is they had a pool table in the lobby.
I am only leaving this review here because I did not get a survey email after my stay. I have gotten that email after every single marriott stay i have had. I will somehow find a way to post this on Marriott...
Read moreMy boyfriend and I had a lot of issues while staying here, beginning with check-in, we were charged an additional $1,500 for "incidentals", which was not disclosed during booking and when I asked the young woman working Wednesday afternoon why the fee was so high, she couldn't tell me and just told me it was policy, so I asked to see the policy or speak to a manager about it, and she refused to assist with this. She then place us in a completely different room than the one we had booked under the illusion that our room type was sold out, and as a hotel manager myself, I understand that sometimes things just happen outside of your control. Later that evening I had asked another staff member if the room type that we had reserved would be available before our stay was up, and I was informed that the room type was in fact not sold out, and the young woman who worked the afternoon had notated in our reservation that we had requested the move when we did not. We were there for 5 days, and housekeeping came by one time, and when asked the front desk for towels and linen I would change myself, I was told that they will not hand it over to me and I have to wait for housekeeping, who never came. Hopefully others don't have similar experiences that we did, the hotel itself is very nice and very clean, the beds are super comfortable, but I hope if management is reading this, you consider retraining the young woman who worked August 13th afternoon, she definitely needs assistance with her work performance as well as her customer service. However, the young woman who was on shift around 5:30 a.m. on Sunday morning, she was phenomenal and had an excellent attitude, so...
Read moreI wish I could give this place 10 stars.
In fact, I wanted to write to corporate about the staff specifically which makes this place so special.
How we ended up at the Aloft was because we couldn't get checked in at the Hyatt place next door (even though our room was prepaid for) . They couldn't get their systems to issue keys so we went over to Aloft at 4 am - after driving all through the night.
We didn't have a reservation at Aloft and they were full. But, Jeremy helped us by moving some things around so we could easily get to bed to rest before having to head to the hospital.
Jeremy went way above what any staff member has ever done at any hotel I have ever seen. He was kind and hospitable. You can tell - he loves his job.
The hotel was so nice. Very clean. Dog friendly. Safe. Secure.
They offer lots of amenities. Pool, gym and a lobby full of board games and a pool table.
There is a restaurant bar on site and also a snack store downstairs that offers a wide variety of food and beverages.
The hotel is dog friendly too! So you'll see friendly animals around from time to time.
The hotel is convenient to the airport and the Renown Reno hospital .
We stayed 2 different times during the week. Because my father was in the hospital and it was nice to come back to a hotel that treated me and cared for me like I was their own family.
I will forever be grateful for the ease they gave my family through this difficult time.
Would definitely recommend this hotel when staying in Reno. You will not be disappointed. ...
