Somehow I'd missed this place and never dined here before even though there's locations all throughout California... and I've been missing out! The menu was very creative and credit to whomever though of the idea of making it look like a daily gazette. I've never even seen a menu with so many items I'd like to try. Today I tried the pancakes and they were delicious. I didn't even need any topping or syrup on them and they were so sweet, light and fluffy. I was surprised that I actually ate the sausage here as I don't be normally even really like sausage. The other four people dining with me cleared their plates as well. They have a nice collection of 60s(?) music playing from a jukebox in the entryway. The restaurant was clean and we'll maintained. The prices were very reasonable. The service was fantastic! Our waitress was just on it, she knew their menu and what she was doing. She was our greeter & seater, waitress and cashier as well as the other six tables that afternoon and she did it all seamlessly smooth. I almost forgot to mention that when I was paying I found that there was a case of tiny pies (see picture) next to the register. I will be going back to try one of those for sure. This restaurant deserves more attention. I feel I should have heard of it sooner. 10 out of 10. You should definitely try it for yourself.

Update: After posting my review the manager at Black Bear reached out to me. She has been absolutely amazing and professional. She has really made it a priority to fix this mishap. The level of customer service that she has provided is what every company should strive for. I am very happy and pleased with the services. Incredibly disappointed with Black Bear last night. I did an online order to pick up, it was about 10 mins late which was no big deal. Had to wait inside for the food. Got the order and when I got home I couldn't believe what I got. I ordered two orders of French Toast, one for me and one for my daughter. I think it was undercooked and cooked with too wet of a coating because it was slimy and had an extra cooked part to it. Hard to explain but I will attached photos so you can see what happened. If I was dining in there is NO WAY they would of sent me this French Toast. Make sure if you order online you verify the quality of the food before you leave.

This place is conveniently located near the airport. Although the decor is a bit outdated, they are going for a particular esthetic so it felt welcoming and it was clean. The menu is really cute; it’s made to look like a newspaper. The hostess was friendly, so was my server although I only say her once; when she took my order. My food took a long time (didn’t time it but it was far longer than it should have been). I heard another server telling her table that the food was taking a bit long but no one said anything to me. My eggs and bacon were cooked perfectly. I didn’t love the sweet cream waffle as much as I thought I would but heard many people saying how tasty it was. I was to famished to take a picture of my food when it arrived but it looked great. The 3 star rating is due to the wait time and lack of attention.

Huge portion for the price, great comfort food with flair. I normally don’t have meatloaf, but there’s was absolutely amazing! Somehow they got the balance of flavors and textures spot-on, it included onions, carrots, sausage, and beef, with a really nice gravy that was not overly salty like so many are. I had mine with a loaded baked potato that had high-quality, chopped real bacon, a lot of cheese, ample, sour cream and butter. The side of green beans with onions and more of that great bacon was a great complement to the meal. I’ve been to black bear diners in Bend and another location that I can’t remember, this one was actually better than the Bend location. Will come back again when I’m traveling through the area.

I placed an online takeout order on January 15th, only to find out that they had omitted the bowl of chili and a salad from my order. Upon calling the restaurant, they assured me of a refund. However, despite their assurance, my bank statement still does not reflect any refund. I understand that mistakes can happen, but I hope the restaurant can promptly address and rectify this issue by refunding the corresponding amount. I provided my order details during the phone call, but there has been no progress so far. This experience has been unpleasant for me, and I believe the restaurant can take appropriate measures to resolve this matter.
