Decided to try this place last minute because it was close and had good reviews. I am flabbergasted by all the great reviews saying “so authentic” or “best in NV” as i’m giving one star only because the man working was very nice. Here’s the deal..it isn’t either of those things. It was so extremely hot inside. The music was playing so loud you could barely think let alone speak to someone you’re having lunch with. Prices aren’t great compared to other local Mexican restaurants. Their horchata had absolutely no authentic texture and tasted powdered. Paid for sugar milk. No chips and salsa included. No rice or beans included. $15 for 5 street tacos? I ordered the dream tacos and it was $10 for two tacos.. yes the tortillas were big and homemade but not handled well. When they got to me they were mush. There was probably 5 pieces of meat in each taco, mostly flavorless cheese and onions. Barely any cilantro. Pork tasted like canned chicken? They give you a lime bit on the side that’s .000004 mm thick and two 1 inch containers of bland “hot sauce” and a bland watery green salsa. My lunch companions tacos were the same. I guess two people are meant to ration those two teeny portions of sauce (not a huge problem since they don’t add much to the meal). The one saving grace I thought would be the rice. It wasn’t. It just topped off the let down. The flavor I have to say was pleasant, tastes similar to how I make it at home but was completely over cooked mush- which isn’t how I make it at home. This might seem harsh but it’s no exaggeration. This was my experience. Sorry but someone’s gotta say it so you guys can improve! Wouldn’t recommend. Stick to the smaller gems in Reno...
Read moreWe hadn't been there in a while. The server was a young lady who never welcomed us or gave her name right from the beginning, and nothing was friendly. We wanted to have some coffee; it was still early. Her response was, "No, we don't have coffee." On the menu, they offer coffee and Café de Olla. I asked if she could make some; she said, "Let me go ask." She came back with, "No, we can't make any more, and we don't have any." We ordered another drink, and she completely ignored my husband, who was quiet and walked away. We ordered our food, and as my husband told her, she was quiet and walked away without asking what I'd like to drink. We ordered a Ham and Egg Torta, and she came back and said, "We don't have any ham." My response to her was, "Do you have anything on your menu?" Her response was rude and with attitude, and she told me, "I literally just told you no, we didn't have coffee," and she wasn't friendly at all. As a business owner, the customer is always right. If you own a restaurant, I believe you would have enough or inform the customer of what is available to serve or make the best in offering something else so they can enjoy your food and your restaurant. Very disappointed; I probably won't be going back to your restaurant....
Read moreTried this place for the first time. My wife had the dream taco plate that said it was 14.00 with choice of meat, so we were surprised to see an additional charge of 3.50 for carne asada added to the bill, making the plate 17.50 for 2 tacos, rice and beans. The carne asada was more like boiled meat without any flavor and the beans were way to salty, the rice was good. I had the enchilada plate which was 12.49 for 3 cheese enchiladas which barely had any cheese in them or any flavor to the enchilada sauce, again the beans were way to salty. The service wasn't bad but the waiter could have been mor informative of the additionalcharge for our choiceof meat. We don't mind paying extra for the meat we want, but it should be on the menu that there is an additional charge for carne asada or we should have been told that it really wasn't your choice of meat and what meat was included for the 14.00. For the price we'll stick to many of the various mexican restaurants we have in this city that have better flavors and comparable or lower prices and the meals even come with chips and salsa compared to here. We really wanted to...
