We are from Phoenix so always lookin for some good mexican food like home. While definitely not the best here it was good on our trip here, average. A nice environment. Only negative aspect was the staff. We stood there and were not greeted for at least ten minutes, at least. Its a small place and akward standing there, also there was no one else in the place at the time, so this was a bad start. It wasn't until a young hispanic couple came in behind us that someone apparently noticed we were there as well. So they were immediately seated as they stepped in after we had been waiting in an empty returaunt for ten or more minutes. Ok. Our server was nice and friendly enough when introducing herself but very obviously not as talkative with or attentive to us as the other couple. We only saw her to order, deliver food, and take the check. No refills, no check backs. While this was bad service, i can overlook it. It was the busboys who were the worst. We were seated near what I gather was their refill station, or busser station. So they congregated there while we were eating. My husband, who loves his salsa and hot sauce had asked for two extra I believe, from the busboy, as he was the only one coming by, not our server, she had her more important couple to take care of obviously. He brought them and we continued our meal. I hear laughing, I notice it is from the busser station, I look over to see these two bussers and one server (or other male employee) mocking my husband. Yes. Imitating the way he was eating and dipping his sauce. I couldn't believe it. They were speaking in spanish, pointing at him and laughing. They were clearly young but that is no excuse when you are at work, especially in customer service! I made it a point to stare right at them so they would know I knew what they were doing. I do not speak spanish so I do not know exactly what they were saying but it clearly was not flattering. They contiued, knowing I knew what they were doing. I wamted to say something but my husband preffered i did not, so i didnt. We finished our meal and left but purely based on the staff there I wont be back. I hate to say it but it seemed like we definatley did not get the kind of service the young hispanic couple got who were there at...
Read moreThe wait time was around 15 minutes for us. It was pretty busy, but we got seated pretty quick for a Friday night. I was happy with the wait time.
The service was awesome. Along with our waitress, there were other staff that helped with filling our drinks and chips and assuring that we were comfortable and okay while we waited for our margaritas/food. In fact, our waitress only helped us a few times. Which I wasn't upset about because there were those helper staff members that helped us in between.
Margaritas were amazing. I had the Cadillac, and my husband had a Guava margarita. Mines was on the rocks so the flavor is always a little stronger (how I like it). My husband's Guava was much more tastier and well blended than I expected. It wasn't watery, as I usually expect a lame blended margarita to be. It was a perfect consistency and real tasty. I noticed every table had a margarita!!! I can see why. Yummy!
Our food was delicious. The chips that they give you while you wait, was so darn good. Hot and crispy, not stale. Chicken Chimichanga was nice and crispy, not soggy upon arrival at all! Loved it. Husband had the Tres Taquitos. Honestly, the beef was weird. Had a funky taste like at Jimboys. The chicken and pork taquitos were delicious.
Dessert. Fried ice cream wasn't really fried. It was basically an ice cream ball covered with corn flakes and coconut, it was a let down for me. The pastry bowl though, AMAZING. It was Crispy and tasted fresh. I ate almost all of it, my husband ate the ice cream part.
Dining experience was amazing, and food was still overall delicious. Rated 4 due to fried ice cream and weird...
Read moreDrove by and went in because husband was hungry. They brought us chips and salsa. The salsa tasted sour. Like it had gone bad. We should have stopped there, but, we got some guacamole and bean, cheese and chorizo dip. Guac came first. No flavor. Just the flavor of avocados and tomato. No lime/lemon, no salt. Nothing. Now the bean, chorizo and cheese....no seasoning. I thought maybe I just needed to try it again.. I made sure to get chorizo and cheese on the tortilla chip. Ok, SOME flavor... but the chorizo was hard and dried out. But it had some flavor to it. It was really cold outside and every time the door opened a big gust of cold air came in. I decided to order the chicken tortilla soup hoping it would help warm me up. Nope. Came out and it looked like a big bowl of salsa. Did not look like any type of chicken tortilla soup I've ever seen. I tried it. It tasted like warm enchilada sauce with some "tortilla" strips. We just paid the check and left. I didn't even want them to offer me anything else. Everything was so under-seasoned; nothing else sounded good. A lady came by and asked if we wanted to-go boxes. When we said no, thank you. She seemed offended. Maybe it was just a bad night. I don't know, but when the best and most seasoned thing are the pre-made tortilla chips, that doesn't make me want to go back. Overall, very disappointed...
