Visiting from Baltimore, MD, we had our fill of some local restaurants with local grub so we wanted something that reminded us of home. Shenanigans fulfilled that 100%! Thank you!
We love dark, "hole-in-the-wall" style pubs, and this one fit that perfect. We walked in just after they opened and were greeted with a smile from the bartender (which was weird but nice!). There was one other high top full and a couple guys at the bar chatting, playing games. We were told to seat ourselves. We made our way to a high top and were brought menus immediately by the bartender. Great start to the visit!
I asked for any local beers similar to a Blue Moon, she made an amazing recommendation which wasn't local but was equally as neat. The recommended a hefeweizen they had from the worlds oldest operating brewery (year 1040 - Weihenstephan Abbey). Woah... ok... yes please, I'll try it! I loved it. The beer was so cold it felt like it was about to freeze. Great! Now to food.
I ordered just a standard Cobb Salad while my husband ordered just the chicken tenders app. We weren't in a big meal mood because we had a wedding to go to later that evening; we just wanted something to generally keep us held until then.
Food was standard bar food. Nothing fancy or special about it. The quantities were great which makes a big difference. The beer was fantastic. The server was prompt, smiling, kind, and laughing. That made a very big difference in our visit.
Recommend to friends and family that come to the area, absolutely! Great small pub/bar experience with great bar food. Thank you... and thank you for the educational experience about the...
Read moreLocal pub which offers good grill style food at reasonable prices, and a variety of on tap beers and liquor. Didn't order dinner this trip, but have had appetizers or sides here several times.
Service is friendly but can be slow due to understaffing. On this visit, the bartender not only covered a busy bar but also served drinks to the tables. A less capable bartender would have find that difficult to handle. Bartenders are welcoming, and clearly know their "regulars".
Atmosphere is a casual smaller pub, and the strong local following often makes it busy from 3PM on. Noise level is moderate to louder and getting a bar side seat, especially for two people, can be difficult. Tabling seating varies with peak times or televised sports events.
Video gambling is offered at all bar seats, but isn't always available when it is busy. Like a few other places, it is problematic when non-gamers aren't encouraged to take tables to allow gamers to use the...
Read moreLocals only bar with low slot player reinvestment. Non locals beware that many of the regulars are in a "protected class", they may appear talkative at first... but they are allowed to verbally abuse the staff and threaten other patrons. If your opinions do not jibe completely with theirs... they will have the management confront you on their behalf.
This is a bar that provides gambling with little to no incentives for playing there long term, much softer player reinvestment than Flowing Tide, Bully's, or The Parlor.
Not for everybody, proceed...
