Pot stickers were burnt but kinda edible, they had a very thick wrapping and very little filling In the Wor Won Ton soup, it consisted of Smoked ham/lunch meat and spinach(it really should've had bok choy or chinese cabbage and the bbq pork slices in stead of lunch meat squares, there were no carrots or water chestnuts) bland broth , no flavor, very misleading and the worst part, the won ton itself, I could've sworn they are supposed to have a filling, very disappointed. Pork fried rice was bland and oily, more than the usual amount of oil on a fried rice dish Triple delight sweet and sour: consists of 4 prawns. The manager tried to argue it was 6 pieces then retracted and corrected that it's 4 prawns, some chicken and pork... mostly pork. Orange chicken was burnt, black dried orange peel in dark not flavorful sauce, bland, burnt. There was no denying that you could smell something that was burnt from our seats. kung pao chicken had spoiled ingredients ,I spit it out, and we left after that. We argued with the manager but she demanded we pay for two dishes, we did but everyone was sick after eating at this place.
A couple days later, being a Chinese food loving family, we tried 2 guys from Hong Kong! We were very happy and will always recommend them to everyone who visits Reno and wants delicious...
Read moreIt's funny this restaurant is located just across the street from one of the most popular Chinese restaurant offering American style Chinese food, where Szechuan Garden specializes in the more authentic less often seen Chinese dishes. Yes, they do have the old standard stand bys of sweet and sour pork, egg rolls and fried rice, but the real gem is the Chinese menu. I don't read Chinese and neither does my BF, but they will gladly explain what is on the menu. The standard menu is really not all that exceptional, but the authentic menu is really good. I've forgotten about this place since 168 Café opened, but its still very good here. This was the first restaurant where I had the Lionhead Meatballs.......wow is all I can say! You have to order this one 24 hrs in advanced. I've had the whole steamed ginger and soy fish, salty dried fish fried rice, black mushrooms in oyster sauce and various other seafood. The interior looks just about the same as it always has, and the service is attentive as ever. It never seems to crowded in here. I'll try not to forget about this place for so long next time. The dining experience here is a bit more formal then it is over at 168 Café, for real Chinese food. This place has been here for more...
Read moreWe ordered through Door Dash. My mom ordered a shrimp combo for an extra two dollars that was supposed to come with rice and an egg roll. I ordered some General Tofu with vegetable Lo Mein. The estimated delivery time was 7:15pm. We get a call from door Door Dash around 6:30pm saying that the combo was only for lunch. They wanted to just leave the two dollar charge and not give us the rice or the egg roll. My mom demanded at least rice since she already paid two dollars for the extra food. They agreed. Then they said they ran out of Lo Mein (?😕) I have never known a Chinese place to run out of Lo Mein. We agreed to substitute it with Chow Mein. We then wait till 7:30pm. We give them another call to see where our food is, and the lady told us the delivery guy was on his way. We then realized that they never asked for our room number. We called again to find out that the delivery guy has not left yet (😡). We gave them the room number and wait till 7:45pm when we finally get our food. The food was decent, but the hassle was so confusing and frustrating that we will not order again. Beware with this place. They will overcharge...
