The food here is amazing if your waitress or waiter bothers to take your order. We just went there tonight and we made a reservation for 6:00 p.m. we ordered drinks and they came quickly then we said we needed a few moments to look at the menu the waitress never came back but in the meantime another couple was seated and they were given appetizers and we're done with them and then we still did not have anyone taken an appetizer order or anything I went to the bar and asked for the manager then someone that said there was a manager a lady came and took our order and we did get the food but by then I was so upset with the way they had ignored us and treated us for a very expensive bill that I expressed my displeasure and then we asked for our food to go then as we were paying our 100-dollar bill with a $50 tip and we were walking out there was a guy that was at the bar close to the lady manager saying that we should never come back and that we were out of line technically and I will never go back there again and I am very sorry because it was very good food and I had gone there with my father-in-law many years ago and it was a place that I really wanted to take my roommate to and I am strawberry disappointed at The Way We Were I don't know why they acted this way I really did feel like for some reason they didn't want to wait on us we were two ladies all the other people there were couples or families I am so disappointed all we wanted was a nice dinner and a place with good food and I feel like we were just treated like s* and we did tip $50 and we took the food home but I still don't...
Read moreThis used to be our go to spot for Chinese and a restaurant we frequented for several years. That is until last night. We ordered our usual dishes-Mongolian beef, pork fried rice, Kung Pao chicken, and beef chow fun to go. I initially realized there may be an issue upon opening the containers when, honestly, all 4 dishes appeared to be the same color. The Mongolian beef was maybe 90% onion slices, the chow fun was colorless and also contained an atrocious amount of onions. We get these dishes all the time and have never had this happen. Upon eating, we realized the taste was odd and the noodles had a burnt flavor to them despite not appearing burnt. The fried rice and chicken were as expected. Needless to say, we didnt finish the meal and ended up tossing it all. I decided to give the restaurant a call once one of us began to feel ill and the response was less than stellar. According to Alicia, other customers were asked about their experience and said their food was fine. She also stated what the Mongolian beef is supposed to be mostly onions and the burnt taste must just have been a poor response to the spices. No where in the conversation did she attempt to truly take into account our experience and she also refused to refund the two out of 4 dishes. The overall conversation leaned towards us having a unique experience despite other reviews here highlighting similar experiences. This is a real bummer because Palais is probably the best Chinese in town but I guess we will have to give somewhere else a shot. The moral here: good luck and hopefully you don’t have a...
Read moreFive-Star Review for Palis de Jade - A Reno Gem
I recently had the pleasure of dining at Palis de Jade, an upscale, French-inspired Chinese restaurant in Reno, and I was thoroughly impressed by both the ambiance and the service. Our server, Boon, provided us with exceptional, world-class service from start to finish. Dressed in elegant black and white suits with ties, the entire waitstaff added an extra level of sophistication to the experience, making the restaurant feel incredibly refined and special.
The menu offers a fantastic array of Chinese cuisine with elevated flavors and presentation. I ordered the Szechuan-style shredded pork, accompanied by fried rice, while my companion enjoyed the lemon chicken with a side of white rice. We began our meal with delicious crab rangoon and a perfectly crispy spring roll. Each dish was flavorful, expertly prepared, and beautifully presented.
To start, we both enjoyed soups: I had the egg wrap soup, and she opted for the sweet-and-sour soup. Both were rich, warm, and absolutely delightful—the perfect beginning to our meal. The quality and taste of the dishes are truly remarkable and set a high bar for fine Chinese dining in the area.
I highly recommend Palis de Jade for anyone looking for a refined, memorable Chinese dining experience in Reno. The attention to detail, elegant atmosphere, and impeccable service make it a top choice for a special night out. Five stars...
