I've been to the Chicago location 3 times and it wasn't until I visited the Richton Park location and spoke to the owner that I had a horrible, unforgettable experience. I placed an online order and received a confirmation text and then a text stating it was ready. When I arrived to the store I let the owner know I was there to pick up an order that I placed online. She then asked me what I ordered and I let her know what 4 items it was (totaling $112.88). She informed me that some of those items were unavailable because they were on the brunch menu which is only offered on Sunday from 11a-3p(it was a Wednesday). She showed me the correct menu to order from and I placed the order. Once the order was being bagged I decided I wanted some cookies and paid for those cookies with a different debit card than what I used to place the online order. I got home and 1 item was missing. Also, I didn't think I paid for the food, only the cookies. I then called the restaurant and 1st spoke to Sydney(she also rang me up for the cookies and bagged my orders). The owner got on the phone and I explained I was just there and I was told I ordered from a different menu, placed another order but there was a difference in price from the online order and the one I placed in person with her. She proceeded to tell me that they don't offer refunds(never asked for one and wasn't looking for one), I ordered from the wrong menu, wasn't listening to me, cutting me off and being very rude and condescending. I told her I planned on being a long time customer and she responded with "don't". I told her she was a poor business owner. She was not looking for any resolution, only trying to point out how I was wrong. She then told me "I'm going back to work ma'am". When I responded to an email about my experience she still wanted to go back and forth and that's when she learned that I paid for the cookies and I was missing an item. After telling me "do the math/get out your pen and paper and calculate", is when she stated that if I didn't receive an item I can have another, so when do you want the crab cake? I tipped, which I would have liked to be compensated for. I would never return for an item after the exchange we had, and there was more than a $18.99 difference in the 2 orders. The order should have never been confirmed and stated ready if the items weren't available that day, someone should have called me and let me know my order would NOT be available. The experience I had with the owner is what I'm most upset about. I hope she fixes the gaps she has with the menu/online ordering so that no other customer has to experience the...
Read moreWhere do I start? I want to say the staff is extremely friendly, and my server was good. That unfortunately is where it ends for me. I came into the restaurant and immediately noticed the establishment doesn't take cash.. ok fine. I proceeded to ask the cashier if there was a handheld menu for better viewing..they informed me no, unfortunately. Ok, so I asked can they do to-go orders they said yes.. so as I proceeded to give them my order, they immediately said oh I forgot we can't take to-go orders and that we would have to dine in. I said ok? ( confused now) I told the cashier that I would come back because I had to see if my mom who is legally blind would like to come dine-in? My mom agreed.. we were seated at exactly 12:00noon. The server came to our table at 12:05 pm, she took our order the Best Burger. We asked for vegan cheese sauce on the side and if the kitchen could cut the burger in half for us, so that my mom could handle it better. The server kindly said they would ask. The server came back and informed us that the kitchen told her they could not cut the burger in half because it would ruin the presentation. I said fine then I will cut it for her. As we sat there and waited, and waited some more our food finally came out at 12:48 pm. Yes, you heard 48 minutes waiting for a burger and fries. The burger was good.. however, the fries were extremely salty, and the cheese sauce was cold. Then as I was watching the atmosphere I noticed the owner did not even acknowledge us as patrons. After paying our bill and leaving. I decided to read the reviews and they did not disappoint. Then my Aunt who had a two o'clock reservation with some friends today said she got seated right away and served right away as well. This makes me wonder as an owner are you picking and choosing your patrons? Don't worry I will not return. Yes, I have worked as a server before.
7/7/25 - Update to owner response:
Yes, I did talk to the server in which when they went back to the kitchen to inquire about cutting the burger was informed by You that it would not be cut. The time of the visit Your establishment was not full at all, I clearly watched you say hello to Friends that You saw sitting in the same room as us. As stated in my previous comment, we won't be returning to your ...
Read moreBeware- not a good experience at all! After being so excited to patronize this business, the owner completely ruined the experience. We came to try them out and ordered two meals as well as a birthday cake for our baby’s first birthday. We paid in advance, spent $130 for everything- and when it was time to pick the cake up , I arrived at the agreed upon time and was told by staff that they knew nothing about a cake and were unable to contact the owner. I asked for a refund and I was told that they could not issue one without the owner. The staff was very polite and professional. I was contacted later and told that my cake had been there the entire time but no one knew where it was. When I went a second time to pick it up, I finally saw the cake and it was not decorated the way I expected it to be. The staff called the owner and she was very rude. She proceeded to try and argue with me about what I had asked for versus what she put in her notes. I was shocked that she had spoken to me so unprofessionally and that she added an element to the cake that I did not ask for, on top of leaving out what I did ask for. She was not apologetic at all. Her staff seemed embarrassed and kept apologizing . As a result, I asked for a refund again- the owner flat out refused. So, I got stuck with paying for a cake was not what I ordered and was treated horribly. 0/10
Edit: Owner called back -Was less harsh, and attempted to explain what happened from her point of view, she expressed how her staff exasperated the issue. While I do appreciate the call back , the staff was very polite from the beginning and were not a problem.
Update: After thinking about it, I remembered that when we paid for everything the owner had to void out the order due to an issue with the square space register that didn’t allow us to sign for the payment. When the order was re-entered, she must have left the strawberries off . Mistakes are totally understandable and forgivable. A simple apology and an attempt to make good go a long way, at the end of the day it’s about hospitality- but her reply speaks for itself. Such a shame, the cake was...
