This fast-casual Thai joint serves some BOMB food. Didn't expect much as I typically don't crave Thai in Dallas (especially since leaving Thai-town in LA/Hollywood), but wow I was very pleasantly surprised! I would say that their 5 is a reasonable and doable spice and not at all "Thai spicy" you might find elsewhere. For context and comparison, I'm a Medium spicy enjoyer from say Ricky's Hot Chicken and typically middle-ground (3s or 5s) from most places.
Crab Cream Cheese rolls (5) - what you expect from a crab rangoon but instead in an eggroll style wrap, which made it flakier and crispy! served with a fish sauce based sweet dipping sauce
Lettuce wrap - big portion with a quarter head of iceberg lettuce and cilantro garnish, great flavor and textures with the cashews and crispy wonton strips! we combined our leftovers with the Thai Spicy Basil we ordered and it was great together the next day.
Thai Spicy Basil - again, great base stir-fry sauce flavor but this dish really pops with their bamboo, baby corn, and basil! Basil flavor is sweet and aromatic, bamboo is fresh and has a great bite to it, and the baby corn is NOT canned, almost whole but the cob is tender enough to give you yet another textural dimension! Served with rice and honestly their jasmine rice was perfectly cooked too (yes, it matters!) and very aromatic. Last but not least, the "minced" beef we got is NOT ground beef but WAY better! It's actually minced beef so there's still some bite and texture when you eat it and it also picks up the stir-fry sauce well. Really enjoyed their approach to minced beef here!
Pad Kee Mow - my go to since I like stir-fried flat noodles and a generous portion of veggies. They stir-fry well here and you can see some of the wok in action in the back! none of the flat noodles stuck together and each piece was browned and coated in that lovely wok-hei and stir-fry sauce combination. none of the veggies were overcooked so you can differentiate between each flavor and texture and finally the slice beef was tender with the perfect amount of chew; not...
Read moreSuch delicious food and professional, friendly staff! In addition, these people care for their customers AND the community. Ask the manager about the little kitten stuck in the drain pipe and her employees who spent about an hour helping me try to catch it. Its an ongoing story at the moment! No rescue organizations were able to help, but these people were!! Such wonderful people - no wonder the food tastes so good. You can only cook amazing food if you are passionate in all you do!!
Update: one of the employees went back after closing and lured the little kitten out. The kitten (a true Albino kitten) was very feisty and got away after he was pulled to safety, but at least the kitten has a chance at survival now! I'd give them 10 stars if I could. 😍😍😍.
Update #2 (1 yr after kitty rescue): Still amazing food and customer service! They have also brought in seasonal macaroons which are delicious (via Joy Macaroons) and they make my Thai Tea just the way I like it! We have been coming here since they opened and look forward to many more meals and carryout orders with the team!
Update #3 Same owner, mostly same employees. Still delicious food! I do hope they get the soda machine working soon though. 🤞
Update #4: Technology failed today and as a surprise for waiting a little longer than normal (so equivalent to normal time elsewhere) we were given 2 Thai Tea's on the house. Thank you all...
Read moreDisappointed with the Togo meal here Saturday night. Our first night in Dallas worn out from the trip we decided to doordash the Thai Fried Rice and Papaya Salad. After going to meet the door dash driver down five flights of stairs (she could not get to our door) we opened the food to find a raw crab in the papaya salad accompanied with a liquid and sour, offensive smell. I’ve enjoyed papaya salad many times before however this dish was unacceptable. The rice was presented better but lacked in flavor. When verifying the order we requested no dairy but was reassured that the fish sauce or oyster sauce would be included. The rice arrived hot but lacked in flavor. Total disappointment and waste of $$.
After my original post I was called by the female manager and badgered while having a great dinner. She was very defensive and would not listen to my concerns during most of the conversation. She literally said I was wrong and that the crab is fermented as well as having fish sauce in the dish. I am familiar and a fan of fish sauce however the manager could have just apologized for my experience and moved on. Disappointed by the follow up and overall experience with this...
